I'm with Waffen-79. I don't like it when people use it ad nauseum in communication when they have the time and space to write fully. Seems lazy.

But then, I'm against hyphenating things, like my sons' names. I use the full names all of the time, but don't like it when someone automatically shortens it. That's not what we named them!

Yah, 1337 speak and the method of capitalizing every other letter **** me off to no end. Do they realize they could be WAY faster if they just learned to type like a normal human being?

Also, the one abbreviation that I truly hate is C.A.R.B.

California Air Resources Board. They're why we can't have modifications on our cars

I hate when the media bozos refer to celebrity couples by combining parts of their names. I also hate when they make up new words that only they think are clever then use them to death (for example: staycation)

The internet abbreviations are bad enough on the web, but what really gets me irritated is when my coworkers use them in emails. If you are too lazy to type the extra 2 letters in "you" and instead type "u", how much pride and effort will people think you put into your work?

On a more serious note from my last post, I always use good grammar. I may have a misspelling here and there (my typing has much to be desired), but I do believe that using these abbreviations shows that you are an impatient person. The abbreviations may get the same job done, but in a far less appealing and intellectual way.
If you compare two different paragraphs saying the exact same thing, one with these "abbreviations" and the other using spelled out proper English, what impressions do you get from each of these two people?
