Cut into 3 pieces, but it could have been worse. I'd weld it back up, leave the temporary one right where it is, and put the real one inside one of the exhibits.

Oh, and send the tossers to the slammer.

While I find that sign depressing, it is important for it to be there. Hopefully, they`ll have someone watching it now.

The sign is of the deepest historical importance to the Jewish people and the whole world, and is a tombstone for more than a million Jews,
So are the Pyramids, I guess.

    It's just a sign

    What does that mean?

Not really. It's not just a sign, I dare say this sign comes closest to be "the" symbol for the holocaust.

Hmmm. A very strange response, and disappointing. I cannot see how the Pyramids compare to that sign.

I`m sure the original few million inhabitants on first seeing it also thought, "it`s just a sign."

Not sure what this says about you. You`re very naive.

That sign is of important historical significance and should remain.
Why preserve something from such a dark part of human history?
It is necessary to preserve such things to remind people that events like this actually happened at one time as hard as it is to think about it.
I can almost guarantee that once all of the veterans and survivors from WW2 are gone, there will come a time where there will be those who will try to rewrite history.

    Absolutely.

    They've already begun that.

I honestly can't believe it was found. It could have been gone forever in some collector's vault, or chopped up and recycled by some anti-semites wanting to make a message.

That it was cut into three is also very regrettable. But, I think that given today's technology and artistry it can be welded and restored to its original appearance.
