What about ordering a specific heading change via a compass rose (something any sub captain would do)...
Could do it manually with the interface of old but good luck manually, or verbally ordering your crew, to head and follow a 270 deg heading without staying glued to the Nav map (takes away from the immersion if you ask me!).
I also miss the dials and all the stuff you usually expect to see in the early 40´s in a uboat. As a commander I want to see the actual fuel consumption, the batterie status and so on. Ok, we are in modern times but UBI has all the stuff the sim enthusiasts love in an uboat-simulation re-worked. There´s no longer a maritime feeling....a commander needs dials, also the periscope is just a round hole in my monitor? Where is the love for details? Lost for DRM?
The love will be brought in via mods, perhaps even an eventual patch. UbiSoft went for trying to attract a younger, newer audience and for that you need the sleek new interface.Originally posted by binford6200:

Based off the massive negative feedback on these and Subsim.com's forums I'd say it was a MAJOR MISTAKE....
Didn't anyone bother to Beta Test the new interface and who in their right mind decided it was a Great Idea.![]()
First I was convinced to buy the game, but later avoided the pre-order because of the DRM announcement... and seeing the latest feedbacks here on the forum... I'm glad for the choice I've made.
I loved all about SH3 and I'm not a submarine expert, not even close... but I understood and managed to feel natural to maintain the dials under my eyes and I had no problem to get used to all the buttons, functions and keyboard shortcuts. It felt I was really inside WWII and I've played for so many hours and days.
Only downside was the crew fatigue.
But regarding SH5, seeing what I'm seeing here, based on latest feedbacks and other infos/images... if the point was to make it accessible to others, I believe that's a failure...
I agree 110%!!Originally posted by panzerfest:
WHY did you change the way the game is played???You did it to Ghost Recon, Now you srewed this game up to!!! are we going to have to wait a year for you to FIX SH5 like we had to for SH4?Another DISAPOINTMENT FROM UBISOFT what a surprise
UBI did it again, go back to silent hunter 3 controls, and FAST!!!
