Wot?

Think about that a moment or two, Foe...
While you are diving faster in TC, the contact is still barreling toward your position. Also in TC. A normal crash dive coupled with a hard turn will keep a plane from ending your trip.
I have done what you describe. TC a dive, only to drop it down in time to see a bomb go off on top of me. TC only makes the game run faster. If something bad is going to happen, like getting bombed, it will. Just alot faster.

Yep, TC will make everything go faster, not just you. I just took on one single Type AB and it whooped my arse. Cams off I used TC to come up to shoot, just 256, but the escort heard me and was almost on top before I could react.
I was just about to shoot when I saw it coming, so crash dive, mild turn, dang those 6 Y guns, 46% first pass, two compartments totally flooded, dive plane gone, battery..bout everything damaged.
I pulled out of a few out of control dives, when he hit again mildly, no battery. I had to come up..Put men on the DG and I took the 40, was gonna at least shoot his racks off. Problem is the 3 ship convoy was only 1000 yards away..all armed. When I came up to 30 ft I jumped on the 40 and looked for the escort..ARGH, he's coming at me..rams me and drives me over and down...I did get back up and took him out with the 40 with help from the crew why all ships blasted me. Had to go under..critical flooding.
Thankfully I got up doing every trick I knew and they were far enough away not to shoot. 80% damage, back to base.
All 3 ships from the convoy escaped. I even passed a nice TF on the way back, no scopes, only stern torps worked....I let it go....

I once saw a post by this guy who said he was never able to understand mods. If I remember his name was Rick_1105
Glad to see you have them mate and are enjoying.
You'll still get a few funny things - I had an episode recently when my sonar wouldn't work manually ie with you using the switches - had this once before - have to go back to base to fix it. Wasn't damaged in battle or anything. Another unusual one I had just today. I saved the game last night when I finished - I usually save while the sub is underwater at a safe depth say 150 feet to avoid any unpleasant surprises on reload.
I loaded the game today and got an immediate warning as to damage to the deck gun and paint.
Went back to an earlier save and had the same problem. Had none when I saved and there were no ships near or mines or anything like that. Surfaced and put the repair party to work and it was fixed soon thereafter.

I've also had some strange happenings after loading a save. Once, a crewmember who had been killed came to life after loading (maybe he was a religious men and a miracle occured). Another time, after saving when all repairs had been made, additional systems were damaged.
I have'nt a clue as to why these things occur, but they don't seem to happen often, and are a small price to pay for the great enjoyment of the sim overall. I've theorized maybe from long pauses creating a memory leak, or if while playing, an automatic update of windows or such may occur without my knowing. I just don't know enough of computers myself to figure it out. And when I ask my IT guy, he starts talking like Charlie Browns' teacher.

A reload automatically resets certain factors, hardcoded. Your men will come back to life, unless in exterior gun slots. Fairly sure your DG ammo is restored in stock. Any damages since you left base will replay, shooting of torps, ect...Game just has to relive those moments at the start.

Well, it was a aa gunner that was killed and I did put him in Hogans alley before saving. If I understood you right, if I'd have left him dead on the gun, he would still have been dead after loading that save?

Mine are...don't think it's my mods, but the few times I've left on the AA guns for sure they came back dead. Any others dead placed in the sub were healed. We have an old Pentacostal Preacher on board.

Thanks Mwolfe, now I know how to ressurect dead gunners, Although in all seriousness, I like to keep my career as real as I can and that to me is kinda cheatin'(as hard as it is to lose a excellent gunner).

I understand. Once again I'm trying to do the entire war without cams or using saves. Both recent careers were failures, one to 43, last night my career to mid 44 ended without knowing what killed me....sucks....Looking hard at that last base save, but guess I'll start over again.
If I make it that far again, think I'll go patrol the Indian Ocean and try to sink a few German ships.
Why oh why can't I stay away from Formosa mid 44 onward...

I feel your pain, I've got to june or july '45 only to suffer the wrath of the Formosa Straits.
