Bah, we will still come at speed, they will turn, we will make a high yo-yo and blast them with 4 cannons
If they catch us pants down there's always slow rolling scissors
Anyway the only P38 pilot that ever got me seriously worried is BSS_Cuda.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I did P-38L late turn times. 1000m, Crimea, noon, WEP, 100% fuel. Tracks available on request, mailed in 6-8 weeks.

    Clean: 24 seconds, 340IAS
    Combat flap: 22 seconds, 300IAS
    Airbrake: 24 seconds, 250IAS
Airbrake and landing flap: 24 seconds, 200IAS.

The rates for clean config is unimpressive.

With combat flap, I got rates similar to a late Bf-109, and at a similar speed. Would outclass FW-190 in any large number of turns.

It is remarkable the improvement from flaps. The majority of aircraft I've tried in the past have marginal improvements in turn time, or none at all.

It's also remarkable that it gets these times with 100% fuel. With less fuel, I can believe the P-38 turning inside 109K with ease.

Mind you, the turn radii are still large. ~330m turn radius with combat flaps is huge compared to other planes, and when I tried to push it harder, it stalls.

109 can do 250m radius turn even without flaps. Can't out-turn P-38, but can stay out of guns and force an overshoot. Smart 109 driver would drop flaps and turn on the edge of stall to beat the P-38.

the K is out turned as easily as all 190's, just dont try to fight it in the verticle.

look me up sometime Jerry, you in your Run90 (anyone you chose) and me in my 38 and we'll see who's Fodder I guarantee that I can out turn every 190 in the game, and unless your flying the Dora I will out run you as well. and we can do this in either 4.05 or 4.07 it makes no difference to me, results will be the same.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Hmm, I put 2 190s into the dirt yesterday with a P38J and never fired a shot.

As anyone here, I had my share of bail outs as well. Most of them while flying other planes than my faithful P-38.

But while flying the P-38, I was never shot down by a Fw-190. And on some occasions, the Focke-Pilot went down after stalling and loosing control of his plane while tryng to stay with me at close quarters.
The P-38 can stay in a turn fight, if the pilot knows how to fly it at the edge of the stall speed, using all what the plane offers. The large and effective flaps are of great help there, and when needed, the dive flaps (not Dive brakes) can be used to good advantage, but carefully. Playng with the two engines, if you know how to do so, can give to the P-38 driver a small extra advantage. But with this I dont want to say that turn fight is the best tactics for the P-38. Speed and Boom & Zoom are always the best. But if needed, the P-38 can be used for classic turning combat. But the pilot MUST know the plane as the palm of his hand.
On the other way, the Fw 190, expecially later variants, was a Boom and Zoom bird, heavily armed with big wings load. Not the ideal for turning tight....<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

This is like the "Bizzaro World" in DC's Superman comics, but in this case it is "Gibbage World" , where although an object has twice the physical weight and mass of the object next to it, it is not bound or put at any disadvantage by it in anyway.

Objects in "Gibbage World" can attain these magical qualities when their creator does a ceremonial dance where they whine and stomp their feet loudly for several months between patches for any software in which that object is created, while throwing out facts, charts and theories that make anything raaiid ever put out look like instructions on how to assemble a child's swing-set.

Also the P-38 is the only plane that uses the AI flight model when flown online by persons. Also granted through the same ceremonial dance....
