Last night I wandered into WC server and just for fun took P38l "Late edition" for ride.I never flown this monster before online (and only few times offline) but I was very pleasantly surprised by its performance.
I met a freaking alcoholic Me109 with apparently great drive. He was some confidence and there were moment he was almost reaching for me with his "grenadelauncher" but not able to get solid firing solution. I use only combat flaps (not having airbrake even mapped!) and it looks as I have chance to gain on him gradually when freaking Spit flown in and Me109 was goner. Very nice and dynamic bird now in 4.071!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
I'm dislectic, so please bear with me...
it always was a good turner, just very few people out there with the Nads to fly it as a fighter. it can be unforgiving, its just the difference since 4.07 is that not only can it turnfight, it is also now a capable BnZ plane as well. most people only hop in for Jabo attacks then go right back to their Spits never having the dedication to learn what its really capable of. a well flown 38 in single can be dangerous, two well flown 38's in wing can be devestating. most people think that its an easy kill, and thats usually true for the reasons I stated above.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

That was some of the best flying I've seen yet! right up to the part where you got killed.
you NEVER NEVER leave your wingman.

Do you have any good tips, Cuda. I've taken the P38 up as a ffighter bomber many times (I am a buff pilot at heart) but I've only been successful a few times flying it as a pure fighter. Once an Fw 190 gets on my tail and I've been run down to low altitude there seems to be nothing I can do to shake it, and then engine fires and an unhappy end seem to follow quite quickly.
At first sight of a 190 on your 6, bring him in to just outside of effective firing range and then reef a hard turn. Do another one back the other way, and then once more but put it into a tight, climbing turn. 190s do not like climbing turns.Originally posted by Aaron_GT:

You'll be on his sixer before he knows it.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

For the good old American lifestyle: For the money, for the glory, and for the fun... mostly for the money.
Look me up on Warclouds this weekend and we can wing up. 190'S are cake, you can out turn all of them easy, and if one dives of you from your 6 above, hit the brakes and 45 climb turn hard, and just as he's about to pass you with a lost solution, release the brakes and barrel roll reverse, and 9-10 times he'll be right in your gunsite, nail him.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">Originally posted by Aaron_GT:
