    The Windows driver for your DVD will be dated 21/06/2006 and is generic for all standard optical drives. It will work fine. As OldBuzzard said, you might be missing software for some extra functions - but the hardware will perform correctly for reading and rewriting. You could go to Sony.com to grab any extra software once your computer is functioning correctly.

    The Win7 installation will be quite unremarkable All the drivers for items like the DVD are pre-loaded before the copying of files takes place. You will probably want to make a cup of tea!
