Core 2 quad @ 2.4? If its a Q6600 you should be able to ramp it up quite easily.I run mine at 3.2
Apart from that,I would be surprised if minimum specs will be above a 2.4 quad.

Is about nil. Everything that matters is on a keyed connector/plug/board so you'd have to cut and splice power wires to burn anything up and even then there's so much circuit protection since the late 90's that you still might not be able to do it.

The big scare is static. In a humid environment (boil an open pot of water, run a humidifier, etc) static will not build up unless you wear zap materials... put one hand on bare metal of the box and viola you and the box are at the same potential and no spark.

Every mobo comes with a booklet showing how to install it. It takes a real klutz doing a half-fast job to screw it up and has been that way since early 1986. Before then, things were different.

For older Pentiums you used to be able to buy and use Peltier cooling wafer for between CPU and heatsink. I still have one that I bought extra on a 1/2 price sale. Does anyone use those any more?

well I already have a Gigabyte 3d galaxy cooling system strapped to it, so I guess I have nothing to worry about...

I think you will be fine too. IMHO the game will be more dependant of Gfx cards when its released as it will have all the latest gfx features.

As Gfx cards get more and more powerful so they are no longer the bottleneck, things will become more CPU dependant. Its exactly what happened with IL2. Nowadays its CPU limited. whereas it was very gfx intensive for gfx cards when it was released.

    Just a guess of course.

I have a E6580 (3ghz), 4gb RAM@667mhz and a 8800GT 1gb. I'm gonna see how it fares before doing anything drastic. I have a feeling it will run fine, but not at higher settings or res. I will use 1280x800 as usual.

I've got my Q6600 running at 3.6ghz, 4gigs DDR2 1066 and an 8800GTS 512. I plan on upgrading the video card to a GTX 460 or maybe the GTX 570. After that I'm sure I'll be good to go.

I'm planning now to get a GeForce GTX460 and this is the motherboard that comes with the barebones kit I plan to order. Do you think, by the looks of it, that a GTX460 will be able to plug into this motherboard?

The blus slot looks like a 16x pcix slot so it should be not problem. Just make sure.

Yeah, it describes that blue slot as a PCIe x 16 slot. So if thats were it goes than I'm glad because that GTX460 looks kinda fat and bulky.
    Thanks.

and make sure your case is big enough, it's ventilated enough, and the PSU can handle it...
