What type of Zombie?
Romero's slow decauing undead?
or
The New fast and feral Infected?
Well it goes like this
1. Desert Eagle .50
2. SiG 552 Commando
3. Spear or 6 ft pole
I'll try to group with people using the same gear, and make a unit like the ancient Spaniard Tercio
I don't know if all that blood and guts are contageous, I don't want to go CQ with teH Zombies
I'd like to find out first if the zombies are the slow 'sleestak' shuffler types, or the 'Dawn of the Dead' 2004 remake zombies that has the wound up, very angry and hostile types.
If it's the former:
1- 1964 Chrysler Imperial (This car is practically indestructible!)
2- cowcatchers welded to the front and back of the vehicle above.
3- solid tires on car
If it's the latter:
1- Churchill Crocodile
2- n/a
3- n/a

x54R is a mosin/SVD/PSL/PKM round, not a AK-47 roundOriginally posted by GoToAway:
I think it would have to be dictated by location. For example, if 9x19 and 7.62x51mm are more widely available than .50AE and 7.62x54R, obviously you don't reach for a desert eagle and AK-47.
My weapon of choice for the zombies? FN FAL and LOTS of ammo. If they're too close for that, then I've already lost.
If they're the slow ones, then:

Takes a lot of persuasion to get to the person inside that. Also, the most beautiful suit of armour I've ever seen. Robert MacPherson, you artist. Also, weighs about as much as the kit of a modern infantryman, and is distributed more evenly around the body. Doesn't affect running speed, but DOES affect your ability to stop running, so that could be a problem. Flexibility is fantastic. If visibility is an issue, raise the visor. Peripheral vision still mildly affected. Bring a friend.

Blunt force trauma FTW! Excellent reach, choice of crushing their skulls or chopping their legs off depending upon which side you feel like using. Spike on the head less reliable unless you can get an eyesocket or temple. With enough momentum, though, passes through a skull with ease. Spiked cap on the other end of the (preferably ash) pole optional but recommended.
Before we get to that kind of range:

64 round magazine, compact, reliable in adverse conditions. Some parts interchangeable with AKS-74. Version chambered for 9x19mm ammunition preferable.
Last resort, keep a sturdy reliable vehicle carrying as many filled petrol cans as you can imagine needing handy (everyone always runs out of petrol on zombie films). Run away! Or use the petrol cans as an improvised bomb.
