I know just enough to be dangerous. I built this PC and it runs very smooth. I run the game at 1280 X 960 with everything on perfect. I get 60FPS and seem to see dots out very far.

What I dont' get though is a nice clean smooth graphics. My cockpit bars have a little tearing and the aircraft lines are not smooth. When I adjust the card up to get rid of those then the game suffers too much. What I want is to get the graphics looking clean and crisp. No more tearing on the cockpit bars etc. I am looking ahead to making some movies and I need the graphics to look good. Not just smooth motion.

Will my system handle more card? I understand that I could put more card in and then not have the system be enough to use the card. IE waste of money! I'm including a partial DXDIAG below so you can see the specifics. A friend has and 8800 Ultra that he speaks higly of. His screenshots are very nice. Mine not so. Will my system keep up with this card? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, the video card is the bottleneck here for sure. A GTX 260 should round things out nicely without costing too much.

    Thanks.
That was my hope. With a better card I should see pretty much flawless graphics....I asssume.

Looks like I'll have to upgrade my power supply too though. I only have a 400 watt.

I can get an 8800 Ultra for slightly more. Is the ultra that much better? Looking around ebay the cost is around $50 more give or take. I'm leary of a used graphics card....

    Thanks again!

The GTX 260 is vastly superior to the 8800Ultra. Even a 9800GTX+ is better than the 8800 Ultra.

Found this one on Tiger Direct. I usually buy from New Egg but they didn't have much for the 260. I know that there are differences in the cards. How does this one look? http://www.tigerdirect.com/app...ls.asp?EdpNo=6023363

I can't find the power requirements. Any advice on a power supply?

    Thanks!

Right card, wrong price, after some looking it seems the GTX 260 is discontinued. Newegg has a EVGA GTX460 1GB on sale for $189 not including the $20 mail in rebate, so I would go with that. The 460 is a little bit overkill for the rest of your system but for that price I would get it anyway and when you decide to build a new rig you can carry over the GTX460 and still be perfectly competitive.

As for powersupply, the recommended is 450w, I would go with this Corsair 600W for $60, this too should carry over to your next build down the road.

Yeah I think Nvidia is getting rid of the 2XX series cards. If you go for a 4XX series card make sure it can fit in your case and it has room to keep cool, they are pretty big and my 470 can get pretty hot with newer games (probably not as much with Il-2). If it can't fit then a strong 8800/9800 should be good.

    Hi urufu,
Is this the exact same card?? http://www.buy.com/prod/evga-0...c/101/217104204.html

Slight difference in the model number?.? EVGA 01G-P3-1371-TR versus EVGA 01G-P3-1370-TR

Very good price. The mail in $30.00 visa card will help get started on the power supply.

Definitely looks good for that price. EVGA is a great manufacturer.

Your link is pointing to a PCIe card. You need an AGP card. Make sure you get this right or you will be SOL!
