I've browsed through several RayWikis, and found out that there are 2 versions of the creation of Globox's kind.

Along to this article, Polokus "created Globox and his family" (at once), while other ones say that Globox married Uglette much later.

And which variant seems to be more proper to you?

Personally I'd love to think that Globox and Uglette got together and had their kids over time, but according to the "knowledge of the Yellow Lums", it says that Polokus created them all.

The baby Globoxes are the direct offspring of Globox and Uglette. While the Lums do say that Polokus 'created Globox and his family', I believe that it is meant in the same semi-figurative sense by which God is thought to have created each and every human being according to Christianity...

The first option is closer to the mark.

Also, 'Glute' is not an official name...

Edit: This reminds me of a theory I came up with some time ago. Polokus is said by the Lums to have created time itself some time after dreaming the world into existence; therefore, it seems natural that the timelines don't match up when we're comparing 'a time before time' with 'a time after time'. Perhaps he thought them up and kept them in his mind for many years before they were born into the world.

Well, still not bad. It'd be interesting to see them as tadpoles.

Perhaps the baby Globoxes do start out as tadpoles. They certainly seem to be capable of coherent speech, so I would say that they're more 'children' than 'babies'...

Uglette couldn't really give birth to all six-hundred and fifty of them, of course. But that's not what I meant by 'direct offspring'. I meant that they were the actual children of Globox and Uglette (via toadspawn or otherwise), and that they had not been created directly by Polokus without any of Globox and Uglette's input.

Hmm I just read that some frogs can lay about 20,000 eggs at a time, it just varies from species, and let's not forget that the Globoxes are not ordinary frogs/toads.

Right. And let's also not forget that in Polokus's world, the environment is probably much friendlier and (AFAIK) has almost no predators, so it doesn't require several thousands of eggs for a species to survive.

That's most likely the developers' inspiration for the '650 children' thing.

Except when the Heart of the World is disturbed. Then everything goes to hell. This has happened three times in Rayman's life (even more if you count the spin-offs), and we don't know how regular of an occurrence it is throughout the history of the Glade of Dreams.

(Although it wasn't converted into Black Lums in Rayman 3, it did come very close; also it's debatable whether the Great Protoon and the Heart of the World are the same thing.)

Probably. It's never confirmed either way.

That's not entirely correct. There are many semi-limbless creatures in both Rayman 1 and Rayman 2. Rayman 1 also contains a few subtle indications that there are limbed creatures around, and <STRIKE>Rayman 1</STRIKE> Rayman 2 contains at least one other limbless creature apart from Rayman. There are also various plants and animals which appear in both games.
