Well, I've been experimenting in the qmb and I have been able to fly down to 20 feet above land for 30 seconds in a Me-262 and wound up having to pull up real quick. Another experiment was when I was fighting some Hurricane MKII while I was flying a MiG-3 and we both wound up playing rolling scissors right above the forest (bad idea I know, but we all know what happened to me).
So, my question to all of you is: How low can you go and how low have you gone for an air to air kill?
was in a rolling scissors in a P-40 once, over the sea, and at one point my wingtip went into the water, but I didn't go in. The guy I was flying against was on comms with me, and he was like "wow, that was cool, you skimmed your wingtip through the water!"
I've also skimmed the water with my landing gear in a J8A and a Cr-42 and a TB-3.
I'm with Tooz--I've skimmed water with the wingtip (and pretty sure I did the same on the ground once in an Me 109, but didn't SAVE, so no proof). And by the way, ever since I got Track IR, I LOVE getting into a low alt rolling scissors. What a BLAST, although I often auger into a hillside or the forest, lol!
It is possible to touch the ground with your prop in IL2 without damaging it, but it requires a very steady hand.Originally posted by Ace_Hyflyer:

If this thread lasts any length of time on the front page you'll be seeing lots of screenies and tracks of this sort of flying, both combat and staged. I've lost count of the times I've cleared by IL2 tail by flying so low that the B&Z pursuit crashed into the ground![]()
