    Wow!

First, it's great to see that Youss is still around, and hopefully he'll be able to create something like his Il2-Compare for SOW.

So exciting to read his comments and to recieve a little confirmation of the "feel" of the increased simulation fidelity we are about to get our hands on.

I feel like I'm 12 again, just waiting for Christmas day......

Thanks a million for posting this....

    Basic test for flight model:

Take Me109 or Spit, or Hurri.
    Line up for takeoff.

    FIREWALL the throttle.

If each does not go into a uncontrollable torque roll during takeoff run, the FM is porked/dumbed down for the general public.

Just wish there was a bit more info on the 109

landing characteristic would have been nice.

According to the Oleg/Ilya interview flight characteristics will still be similar to in Il-2, but this guy seems to say that low-speed flying will be a lot different. I think we will need to learn some new stuff!

The interview did mention normal flight regimes. But slow flight is not quite normal. The calculations that go on will produce a more noticeable effect during slow-flight/stalls than at normal flight.

Hopefully this means the end of the "slip on a banana peel" canned stalls we have in IL2.

It's not normal to come in for landing?

I suspect that accelerated stalls are going to be a whole new world...

Looks like my fast-glide-in landing style is going to come in handy.

That's funny, my copy doesn't have those. It doesn't have canned spins either as I am able to affect/stop/not-get those with some gentle rudder work.

Now back before 4.0 there was the inability to ride a stall but that was taken care of quite well.

Of course if you don't bother with rudder or use that heavily then your stall will generally turn into a spin but that's not because of the FM.
