Good so far. Much better tracking than previous version.

However, is it just me or did we lose the ability to put in our weight? How can calories be counted right if it's missing the weight?

I took the plunge despite the shoddy support on the first game.

By my first impression I can say that navigating the menus has been vastly improved and there seems to be a greater variety of routines, but...

You're right, Yetoff. It did a feeble body scan when I first started it and was missing part of my head. Yet there was nowhere to enter age, weight, or other statistics that might help the game correctly calculate calories.

I was concerned very much about the way the new game would handle calorie counts and my worries have been confirmed. I did a 2 or 3 minute run (the first one available before you unlock any of the other courses) and it said that I burned 62 calories. Then I did the first 7 minute "boot camp" and after getting perfect chains with pretty much 100% in every exercise it said that I burned 17 calories. Don't get me wrong, I used to be a long distance runner and I was averaging a speed of 10 mph without even breaking a sweat. But I have done a fifteen minute routine of push-ups, arm dips, pull-ups, sit-ups, and much of what was in boot camp every morning for years now, and yet I felt that I was doing a proper workout in the boot camp routine. So 62 calories for the run verses 17 calories for the boot camp workout... it just has to be a bug?!

Altogether I did about 45 minutes and the game said that I had burned 116 calories, so it shouldn't take too long to get that 200K Achievement? Yeah, right!

Having said all that, I enjoyed the workouts.

I'm a fairly heavy guy and I rely on calories burnt in a session very much. The first version of the game was pretty dead on when I compared it to other calorie counters. Since I'm a big guy, cardio boxing, for example, would get me burning over 1,000 calories per hour and a half. I did a 2 hour workout with this new version and didn't even break the 100 calories (I spent a lot of time in between activities deciding what to try next).

As you said, the game is still enjoyable but I liked the accuracy better in the first release. I feel rewarded a lot more with the higher number of calories burnt.

Ah well, it's on my wish list for things to fix or bring back. Now, if could just get more space...

I was wondering if the new version was estimating calories burned from a body scan it does each session rather than allowing us to enter our own weight. However, what you have just said about your build pretty much confirms that the calorie counter must be fixed for all body shapes, which does seem a little unrealistic.

I wonder if it would be too much to ask for one of the developers to provide some feedback on the new calorie count system?

Sorry to double post, but has anyone discovered a way to change the "skin" as you could in the YSFE?

The calorie counting is a joke. The boot camp seems to be the worse. I weight 215 and did the second Boot Camp class which was 8 minutes. I got 83% score and my grand total of calories burnt was 10, 10 freaking calories.

I'm sure sitting for 8 minutes burns 5 or so calories. I haven't tried the run as I have a treadmill at my house but please update this game to enter weight or do a better job or estimating calories burnt!!

I'm liking a lot of the other changes/additions. The interface is easier to use and some of the new programs are great.

Sadly I think this forum is dead. I noticed that there has been no forum manager for some time and I suspect it is a relic of the previous version. I'm guessing that Ubishaft are not planning to establish a new forum for YSFE2012 either.

Regarding the 2nd Boot Camp class I got exactly the same calorie score after 8 minutes of what I consider to be a reasonably challenging workout. I don't know if you've tried the rope-jumping one yet, but in the 1st level on that it takes about 2 minutes and I think it said I had burnt about 31 calories. Boot camp is twice as hard and four times longer.

I really hope that they'll do something about this time round. But putting my grumbling aside I'm really enjoying the new version. Despite the ridiculous calorie count in Boot Camp they're my favourite so far.
