I rarely get hatemail, but did get called a noob for winning twice last week.
First time I won in a regular game as US, yet got called a noob for using 'OP Pershings', even though he was spamming Tigers! So am I supposed to send mediums against his heavies??? So I followed him into another game and bet him soundly using just infantry and planes!
Second time I was experimenting with Italy on strongholds and got a good early push with 4 heavy tanks killing his depots and forward bases, but had to retreat after he built 5 anti-tank bunkers around his main base plus stacked the woods with guns, and I had no arty available (it was an over-extended opportunistic push) and had just lost my recon.
Eventually I pulled back to my own defensive line and built Breda 90s, Lanciafiammes and a few more heavy tanks and defended against his constant radio silenced medium tank and troop flanks and bombing runs without losing any units, and got called a cowardly noob for not attacking back DESPITE having wiped half his bases out early and only pulling back as HE crapped his pants over 4 tanks and started turtling!
My experience in this game is if someone calls you a noob, it's simply because you're far better than them, yet they're too arrogant and insecure to accept it, so have to invent some implausible reason that you somehow violated the rules of skilled gentlemanly duelling as the only reason they lost - despite them usually **** exactly the same thing themselves.
Pathetic!
Guys, I donīt know if you played other RTS games before R.U.S.E. like i.e. "C&C3" or "RA§" or "Warcraft3" or even "Starcraft2", but the behaviour of the people playing MP RTS games is always the same.
If they got beaten, they complain about imbalances or call you a noob for using this or that tactic.
So itīs not R.U.S.E. exclusive this phaenomen!
The thing is though, apart from the speed, Tigers are exactly the same as Pershings, including the build cost, except they cost $25 less to research.
I can see how people can have issue with SPs (despite them only being marginally better, and costing double what a Tiger does to research) but standard Pershings? Would they also complain about a Tiger rush?
USA and Pershings being OP is an urban myth being latched onto by poor players looking for excuses. Is the US a top tier faction? Yes. Are they OP? Not at all.
I've been called a noob for the following things...
1) Light tank rushing with Italy
2) Heavy troop rushing with Russia
3) Depot sniping with UK
4) Building critical mass of Pershings with US
How does playing to a faction's strength equal being a noob? 1-3 are very easily stopped, making the target a noob if anything rather than you, and if you've sat back and allowed a US player the time to sink $500 in tanks, and another $250 in an anti-air screen, then you kind of deserve to lose.
It's not the fact that the dude I played wasn't that great. It's the fact that he called me a noob for defending against the very tactic he lost against.
Anyways, here's another one. Not all of these stories need to be noob stomps.
I was playing against some [EUG] dude (I forget who, but his name had 4 letters, Dafi or something). He was pretty good. In fact, he was in better form than I was that game, because he was kicking my *** almost the entire time. One of the biggest kick in the balls was when he brought out an airfield and completely blindsided me with an absurd amount of P47s, to the point where I didn't have any ground forces up by the time I could get any decent anti-air capability (fighters were out since I hadn't researched them yet and he vastly outnumbered me in the air). Fortunately, I had paratroopers that I landed near the back of the map at the beginning of the game. They simply circumvented the small defense posted there to stop them, and [EUG] dude didn't notice it since he was busy dealing with an apparent suicide charge. That single paratrooper unit killed all his planes, captured his HQ, and won the game for me. I really had no business winning that game, but damn if it didn't feel awesome.
Why arent you spending your quality time with your family instead of posting ''wannabe'' mature stuff, maybe nobody told you yet but games are mostly meant for kiddos so welcome to that world, live with that or gtfoOriginally posted by Topspin_2005:

And i assume none of these guys was lvl 1 so your argument doesnt hold ****.
If you are lvl 70 and you open with 5 depots you deserve to be flamed/made fun out of since you are and will be a noob.
Its 2 different things.
1 is making fun of a guy who played 3 games and is lvl 7 and other is make fun of lvl 70 who completed campaign and made over 30 MP games.
everything has been said, done or thought before.Originally posted by MajorGonzo:

what some1 finds funny, is funny to him.
the sun doesnt care if we all live or die.
Actually, i've only lost about 15 games out of 300, my level is 95, and my usual open is 4 depots and a secondary HQ!
...that is in 2v2 though and on large to very large maps though, where my ally takes the early load while I get an economy lead, then we switch. focus.
Small maps and 1v1 though, I agree, it's suicidal.
EDIT - 2v2 on console that is. Centre of Gravity and Strategists are considered 2v2 there. I appreciate they're 3v3 and 4v4 on PC though...
Atleast this thread is x1000 better than this garbage some *** posted.Originally posted by Topspin_2005:

I dont see how this would work on The Border or Diplomats
I dont see how it would work on Cauldron, side by side or above the river.
Whats left?
