I'll tell you how to avoid freezes there.
When I shoot a frikkin plane off your tail, don't turn around and try to steal the kill.

try
69th dedicated server
404 DF
new maps, 41-45 planesets
selected maps have IL2s available, that are permitted unrestricted vulching

I did, and wtf is the P-38Late doing on the 1943 planeset?

Maybe it was an experimental P-38 Late.
As far as I know, online freezes are caused by high ping, which is dependent of how far or close the server is to your server, and how close your server is to you.
I think.

Yes, and maybe it showed the 69th server's boast of accurate planesets to ring a bit hollow.

It has been my experience that one of the largest culprits of screen freezes is spawn lag (i.e., when someone spawns into the game). This can be mitigated by proper mission/map design or server:
1. Disabling custom skins (they are large files that must get shared among everyone to be able to see them)
2. Placing all planes in the planeset as static objects on the ground, hidden on the map away from all the action (I guess then each time a plane comes on, it doesn't have to be built from scratch).
3. Limiting the maximum ping (i.e. ping kick)
Other screen freeze problems could be on your end:
A. Poor connection (are you on dialup?)
B. Over aggressive in-game video settings (fps will take a dive...anything under 30 to me is poor--40+ is preferable) Solution is to turn down detail levels, reduce screen resolution, etc.
C. Background processes (automatic email notification, scheduled antivirus scans kicking off during your play, etc.). Solution is to shutdown all processes that don't need to be running to keep your computer safe and have nothing to do with the game.
Hope that helps. YMMV.
