I found unique photo taken in November 1945 on ORP Blyskawica in operation "Deadlight"Originally posted by mariuszj1939:
Do you know history ???
Destroyer ORP Blyskawica (Grom class) as the first ship in WWII on 7 September 1939 attacked U-boot by depth charge.
Because of that she has a privilege to open first salvo against U-boots on 27 November 1945 !
Since 1976 she has served as museum ship in Gdynia.

I got chased by a polish DD in SH3 (GWX) in sept 39, off the coast of Gdynia (near Hel, a very apt name since the DD was pounding me to it ;-))

She is a good looking ship and really looks like a few in the game we mess with.
The tall ships are beautiful pieces of work. I love it when they sail into NY and the Chesapeake Bay here in the US.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
The last thing I heard as the British boarded my boat, "Boot hoch halten sonst wird keiner gerettet!"....Keep the boat afloat or no one will be rescued! My war was over....
Well, .....I think we can all agree that the BLYSKAWIOA is really a lovely shade of blue.....
I've often wondered about the real effectiveness of marine camoflage; particularly in the case of the British: They go to such great pains to paint their escorts with elaborate camoflage patterns......, and then fly a "White Ensign" the size of New Jersey!
we have a city here in michigan called hel*, yes, Hel*, MichiganOriginally posted by feinmann_xv:

But that ship is very cool, I like to visit WWII Museums and things. I also like the clipper ships in the back grounds, I have a couple moldle clipper ships. They are very nice to look at. Lucky you seeing the Blyskawica (and how do you pronounce that??)<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
