Not much into modern air warfare and the other game you mentioned, the only game with modern ideas or equiptment that I like was the command and conquer generals and the older delta force series, all this new junk coming out is just that, junk. Its the less popular games that I go for or the ones that arent advertised to death, just enough to get your attention for a week or so then you dont hear about it again, sorta like this one was, but after this war, I wont buy another add on or what ever in this series.
I dont really like Modern Air combat myself, I just love the thickest manual you'll find in any game.
If you havent played Deus Ex, I highly recommend it. It uses the same principle you mentioned Theif has, that of allowing the player multiple ways to overcome obstacles.
Im also an old Delta Force 1 junkie. Played it for 5 years. Didnt really like any of the others, just the first one.
My online name for multiplayer in the first Delta Force was Icepick, my call sign in the marines.
I formed a 7 man fire team consisting of current or former military personnel and we would go into CTF rooms and rip other teams apart, no one knew this but we had 2 former navy seals on the team and one current delta force member, kinda had the upper hand but we took on 15 player teams in some versus matches and tore them a new one.
Lol, awesome. An elite squad of soldiers vs people 'playing' delta force. Did you use real millitary tactics?Originally posted by stinkhammer6:

We sure did, we did alot of whats called Rope a Dope tactics. Thats where your team sets up an ambush and one goes out making all sorts of noise and draws fire then runs past the ambush point zig zagging then diving for cover, when they came to hunt him down, the entire search party was annihilated.
Also we would go out together in one direction from the starting base and hide for a while, let them type in things like where are you guys at, come on attack us etc etc, so they would get bored and let their guard down, we would find a blind spot then exploit it and go in shooting, take over the zone then claymore the poop out of it then we would hide along the outskirts of the zone but just inside enough to where we were getting zone time, they would then come in shooting and get blown to bits.
One of the seals was primarily a sniper in the teams and in the games we would let him do his own thing, wed get info from him and would conduct raids etc. The other seal would manage to sneak into the other teams base and do nothing but blade and hide, lay a claymore, stab everyone then hide, one game he stabbed 27 players in their base before he ran out of claymores and was eventually shot from behind, that dude was lethal.
"As for best game, you sound as if you havent played alot of games, I can list 20 games off the top of my head that are better than this one."
urmmmm....I have been playing games since I had my old 486 and playing Space Quest and heroes Quest..also played a lot of Sega Mega drive and Playstation...surely you cannot even consider comparing Thief to this game..for a start its not the same type of game...I have also played Thief and didnt appeal to me at all.
I like simulations and also RTS and some role playing games also a sports gaming freak..and I also go to LANs a lot so that should answer your question about me playing games.and out of all the kazzillions of games I played I still say this game is a winner (even if it has a lot of room for improvement)..I bought Battlefield 2 the same time I got this game and Battlefield is gathering dust.
I do not consider running around and killing people and monsters very entertaining ala DOOM3
so thats not my type of game either.I hate scripted games and thats the key with this game and what makes it to ME the best game...so I guess what i'm trying to say "Stinkhammer" is that whats the best game to me is not always the best game for you or others and visa versa, people are not all the same..and thats why this dicussion board is here for people to share their different opinions![]()
