At least since Rogue Spear, the Rainbow Six franchise has sometimes been afflicted with a curious accuracy model that makes weapons with shorter barrels more accurate than those with longer. (Strangely, you don't see people going pistol-only as often in this game as you did in Rogue Spear.)
In answer to requests to make it like the old Rainbow, they may have gone with such a model?
Base accuracy on shorter barrels should be wider reticules than on longer barrels. Reticule expansion during firing on shorter barrels should be wider than on weapons with longer barrels. Reticule recovery time should be slower on weapons with longer barrels, mostly because they are heavier.
This is how we had it modded on Lloyd's mod 6.0 and you could see some evidence of it in NATO 2.0 (3.0?) for Rogue Spear: Urban Ops, with pistols. According to Lloyd, it required reversing some values.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

It's nearly 2007. Do you know where your robots are?
"when I put a 6x scope and switch to single shot on my SCAR-H, I always get my *** kicked by that guy half way across the map with the UMP45 switched to full auto"
I've noticed this a lot... I think It's pretty stupid... Nothing like scoring 2 direct chest hits on someone across the map with the 552 in single shot mode and having them turn around and kill you with a full auto UMP while they are running. Can YOU hit a head sized target with a SMG at 100m while running after just being shot twice in the chest with an assult rifle? I sure can't... The key with RS games now is to not think of them as realistic or tactical... Just think of them as a fun haloish shooter... That's all it is... It's like Halo, but the fan base isn't as stupid... Just lower your realism standards and you'll enjoy it.

Yes the franichise has been "console"ized to death. The great team that produced Ravenshield produced this i believe. I can help but feel like they let me down with the MP portion of this game.
i'm no gun expert, and i've never fired a wepon before in my life.. BUT i'm pretty sure that at most of the firing distances that take place in this game a smg would be just as useful if not more appropriate than a rifle. although for the sake of gameplay smgs should not be able to fire so far and accurately even though in real life i'm sure they would shoot somewhat as accurate as they do in the game.
Aim for the feet. Assult rifles recoil a lot more. By aiming lower you will hit target with more (Use auto).

In reality an AR Rifle is preferred over an SMG in most cases. It's always nice to have more stopping power, then not enough. The only reason for such things as an SMG, is some CQB restricts movement and a smaller weapon is required, and a pistol simply doesn't have the range, stopping power, magazine capacity, accuracy, and rate of fire as some SMG's have.
In any case, the assault rifle should perform much better than the SMG.
When engaging at distances related in the game, assault rifles would be fired on Semi-auto. Room clearing isn't done on full auto normally except with submachine guns.
The issue here is that even on semi and at a crouch, there does seem to be an accuracy issue with assault rifles. We have set up rooms specifically for this purpose and volunteered to shoot and be shot by each other. Controlled pairs (not double taps) are an extremely accurate method of engagement..except in the game. This should be detailed and possibly addressed.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I definately think this is something they should fix in a patch. Either tone down the smg's or make the assault rifles more effective. Or both.
I was thinking the other day. It's almost like they interpreted low recoil for better accuracy. Their's a difference <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">UBI[/b], and they should both be accounted for.
Short of remodelling all the weapon attributes in a patch, I think they could easily remove the use of rifle scopes on SMGs to help balance this out.
I also have noticed that even on single shot with assault rifles, many times even the first shot is off target by several inches. Usually I have noticed it can be consistantly 6-10 inches off to the right of where you are aiming.
And I also think it is silly when trying to snipe someone with a PSG on the roof of Dam and they kill you from below with a SMG.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
