I've just had an idea. Those of us who are planning to produce discs for our dial-up comrades should not forget to include any other large files which would also prove useful. After all, a regular DVD holds well over 4 gigabytes of data, whereas the Grey Wolves mod should only use about a quarter of that. That leaves plenty of space for other things. I am going to start off a list of files which I am planning to add to the disc and ask that anybody else with ideas of larger files that should be included to please add to this list:
The Grey Wolves installation files
The Grey Wolves pdf manual [29 MB or so!]
SH3 Commander, as well as the SH3 Cmdr files specific to GW.
JSGME mod installer.
Adobe Acrobat: needed to read the manual!
If anybody else has any ideas, please add to the list. I'm thinking of such things as gramophone libraries or other large add-ons which should be compatible with GW 2.0. Please include any links you may have to such downloads. I haven't finalized my disc yet, so there is still room on the disc for any worthy additions.
been away from SH3 after upgrading my PC while I waited for GWX 1.4, (didn't want to leave traces in the system registry so new install can be fesh), been trawling the forum weekly for 4 months looking for news, and then it got better with that GWX 2.0 announcement, almost as good a Xmas present as the Milleneum Falcon was.
Anyway, downloading: I just find it always takes me ages, and being too paranoid about paying using online services I am going to have to wait a week (ok, probably irrational I know). I was hoping another UK Kaleun would have an idea on the best time of day/night to attempt to download the 1.2gb that GWX 2.0 is?
Secondly, as to putting it on disk and sharing it that way. Is there anyone in the community who would be able to do that professionally. I know that the GWX team want it to be freeware, but all you would need for a cover sheet would be the existing cover for GWX.
Pre orders could be taken before hand to see if it was viable, and then after costs all remaining proceeds could go to the GWX team as a big thank you because they deserve it.
I don't have any technical expertise, and downloading and installing anything is always a trial for me, I am sure there are many out there with the same problem who just wish they could enjoy the expansion without the headache, who would prefer a hard copy.
I was thinking along the lines of the way JustFlight do it, looks cheap enough.(Ahem, the process not the product) oops!
Or maybe I'm wrong.........
It is possible, for sure. I'm a bit of a dab hand at making nice looking covers for my personal discs using Lightscribe, inkjet printable media and even with a paper label. But I haven't made a paper label for quite some time, now that I have Lightscribe and printable discs. But for the sake of getting these discs out quickly, I was just going to hand print the label and get them off. Waiting around for the community to make their wishes known, I think, will be using up time that could be better spent knocking out discs.

True, I would just have liked to have some way of thanking the GWX team properly and unfortunately I am not in the position to donate anything meaningful to subsim at the moment.
If the GWX team consent to the burn to disc and share would you be happy to send a disc to London? If so, how would I go about refunding the cost to you?
Just popped over to subsim, forgot to copy a link but the thread was along the same lines and it MAY be that Subsim will do a DVD a later stage. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Originally posted by relcox:

Somehow, this reminds me of selling (freeware) mods, no matter where the money is going.
