    Prologue Part 2
    Aqua's POV

I stretched my hands and glance at the clock. 7:30 a.m. It was the christmas break, so I had no idea what I was doing this early. I guess it was since I had been so used to the same routine. Unsurprisingly I did not feel sleepy. It is strange, I thought, that I am not a morning person on school days, and yet have no trouble with it one weekends.

I went into my washroom and took a nice, warm shower. I loved morning showers, on weekends. I took around 15 minutes, not wanting to step out of its comfort. But I knew I should have not tooken that long. Your skin would start to wrinkle up if you took so long. But once I have stayed in here for 2 hours (maybe even more) and not a thing happened. My sister, Raila, thought I was nuts. Which I kind if am if you ask me. Raila was older than me, so she was the bossy kind. She felt she should take full responsibility. She also thought she has every right to yell at me, until mom starts yelling at her.

After my shower, I slipped onto my silver-blue robe. I stepped out of my bathroom and into my closet. I searched for my favourite blue plaid shirt with black pants. I found it and I carefully slipped into it.

"Aqua Moon! Get down here this instance!" Raila shouted.
I sighed. I wonder what today's morning yell was going to be about.

I walked downstairs. All the lights were off. Not surprising, my family liked to sleep late no matter what day. It was still dark outside due to winter. I flicked the lights on and suddenly...

    "SURPRISE!"

I jumped back in alarm. Then my mind slowly processed what was going on.

"You guys seriously threw a surprise party for me? In the morning?" I asked.

My parents noded while Raila just smiled.

"We knew you like mornings on break. Sort of. Happy 16th birthday Aqua!" Mom said.
A smile creeped over me. Yes sure, the only other people in the room were my family, but I didn't care. I am not much of a party person anyways. And my birthdays are just one of the few rare days when Raila is nice to me.
"Thank you like a million times." I said.
"Your very welcome. Well then, um I am incredibly sorry but we have to go. Your mom made a very special breakfast. The cake is in the fridge and we got like 10 candles in the cupboard. See you." Dad rushed.
I frowned. "Where do you have to go?" I asked even though I already knew the answer.
    "Work." Dad replied.
I sighed. It was always like that. Always will. I am used to it. "Ok, bye."

My parents rushed out of the front door. I should have known, it was never different. Well at least today they managed to sort of celebrate it. Even if was hardly even a minute. I walked to the fridge and open it. I saw the cake and took it out.

"Aren't you going to eat your breakfast first?" Raila asked.
"Give me a break. Its my birthday. Shouldn't I deserve it?"
"Sure, if you want a tummyache."

We started laughing. Told you birthdays were one of the few rare days. A side from my parents are never there, I always enjoyed them. Thanks to Raila. We might not be those super close sisters you see on t.v. but we are still sisters.

"I have a perfect birthday treat planned, at the pool." Raila said.

    Prologue Part 3
    Mckenna's POV

My head was tilted and I was carefully studying the school's bulletin board.
"Mckenna! Hey! Mckenna Rose? Earth to Mckenna!" A voice called.
I jumped back, startled at hearing my name. Then I realized it was just my BFF Taylor. I turned to her.
    "What?" I asked, annoyed.
"You have been staring at that board for ages, come on! We don't want to be late for class on the last day of school before winter break." Taylor snapped.
I sighed. "Ya, I know. But we still got time!"
"Yes, we got hours and hours! WE ONLY GOT 2 MINUTES!"
I looked at her in surprise. "Why are you so worried?" I asked.
"Because I am always late for English class. Mr. Woneign hates me! The least I can do is not be late for English."
"And the most you can do is actually try harder in English."
Taylor gritted her teeth. She knew she was lousy at English. She especially hated when anyone mentioned this fact. I shook my head.
    "Alright, lets go." I spoke.
Taylor breathed a sigh of relief and we headed off to English class.

It was lunch time. We headed down to the cafeteria. The cafeteria was loud. Like really loud. But today, it was way louder that usual which I thought was impossible since it was already normally loud. Taylor and I sat down at our usual table. Taylor was looking upset.
"What's wrong?" I asked while unwrapping my sandwich-in-a-bag.
"Can you believe that freak of a teacher gave us an essay to write on the last day? Grr, out of all the teachers I hate him the most." Taylor shouted.
Some people turned and stared at her. But it was obvious that Taylor did not care.
"I don't get you sometimes. You always seem so miserable. Have you actually considered ever trying at English." I said flatly.
"This is the billionth time you told me this."
"And this is the billionth time that you didn't do this."
Taylor rolled her eyes. "Easy for you to say, you're so smart and popular. All the teachers simply adore you."

A thing about our school was that there were no "popular" people. Like those you see in sitcoms. And not to toot my own horn, I have to say that I am popular, in a way. A way that everyone knew and excepted. It was pretty normal actually, I was not treated special. It was a way that does not really have a clear explanation. I thought no one would ever be jealous by this or care, but unfortunatly my best fried cares.

"What does it matter? Why do you even care?" I said.
"Because random people are giving you gifts when your birthday already past!" Taylor replied glumly.
"Ok, my birthday was last week and I was sick! And plus, random people are not giving me presents, my friends are."
A few seconds later, a random person I did not know or seen came up to me and handed me something small that was wrapped up.
"Happy birthday!" She said, then disappeared in the crownd. I turned to Taylor and smiled sheepishly.
"See, only friends." I said weakly.
"You don't even know her! This is what I mean!"
"I bet its a lame present anyway. And just to prove it, I'm going to open it!"

I started unwrapping the paper. After I was done, I saw that there was a red box. I slowly lifted up the lid. Inside was those small globe thingies that had figures inside of them and when you shook it, either water or snow moved around.
"See." I said. "Just those pathetic shakey things."
But I didn't think it was pathetic. I found it very interesting. The figure in it was a bonfire. I shook it. Then I gasped. I expected glitter to spread around, but it was fire. And the fire looked so cool and real. It looked like it was dancing. And after it settled down, the figure changed. It still had something to do with a fire, but it was not a bonfire.

"Pathetic? Yeah right! That is like the first time I have seen something like that! Here let me try." Taylor said.
I handed the fire-globe to Taylor. She shook it then...
"Ow!" She threw the globe to the floor.
I bent down and picked it up. "What is it?" I asked.
"That thing burned me! Its actual fire!"
I shook my head. "Not possible, the outer part is plastic and I am pretty sure so is the rest. Fire would have burnt the plastic."
"I'm not dumb! You think I don't know that?" Taylor looked furious.
I took a deep breath. Then I shook the globe again. And again. And again. Nothing. I felt nothing. No heat, no cold, but absoluely nothing. It was perfectly normal.
"Nothing is happening. I don't feel it burning. I think I would throw it off if it was burning,"
Taylor looked at me in not only disbelief, but also frustration.
"How about we ask someone else? Hey, Jenny!"
The girl behind me named Jenny turned around.
    "What?" She asked
"Could you shake the globe Mckenna's holding?"
    Jenny looked confused.
    "Sure, I guess."
I gave the globe to Jenny. She shook it and just like Taylor...
"OWCH!!! That seriously hurt! What are you trying to do? That's fire!" Jenny glared at us and turned back around.
I took the globe and shook it again. Still nothing. How could they feel it and not me. What was this object?
