    Hi,
there's a much easier way to get the game running on windows 7 (mine is 64 bit).
You just have to get the original US-retail version of the il2fb.exe and replace it with your 'european' game exe. The US exe is just about 170 KB (!)
because it doesn't contain all the securom stuff.

I asked on mission4today.com and got this file. It works perfectly, even with patching because it is no illegal crack! No caring about securom stuff and you don't need the game DVD for playing.

    All the best

Windows 7 64 bit -trying to get clean install of 46 running , had to use a.exe just to get it on my PC , but thats as far as I can IL@ 46 to go
Did the SecuRom fix in this thread not work? Some have had to run the fix a few times to get it to take. Let me know if it still does not work. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
they e mail me for the log files which i zip and sent ,but never herad back from them.

I got help from the 1c forums which put me on to 3rd party software which work .

    Hi!
I have just installed il2 from my il2 1946 exclusive DVD on my new compuer running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. But I can't get my 409 versoin of the game to work, 408 and 407 versions works just fine. I have tried this securom but when I search It can't find anything, I have searched my entire computer and it still finds nothing, I'm not sure how this program works or what it's suppose to do.

    What am I doing wrong?

One thing you could try is to replace the files named mg_snd.dll and mg_snd_sse.dll from the 4.09m version with the ones from 4.08m.
There have been systems (usually older ones) that suffer from those later dll's.
You can download the files from mission4today: Link to 4.08m DLL's

    Good Luck!

I replaced the files and it did not work. When I start il2 I only see the loadingscreen for a short time at 5% then it shuts down.

    Thanks for reply anyway FoolTottel.

    Too bad!
Better start a new thread('discussion') in the community help forum.
Try and include information on what hardware you are using. That way you get more attention than in this (sticky) thread!

    Been a while...

But I'm having the same problem, including the short blink of the start up screen.

Haven't played Il2 (1946) for some time now as each time I try there seems to be some new hurdle that keeps me from a normal gaming experience.

Nice work with all the new patches though.

    arturojavier,

I think I know how you feel. I just upgraded to Windows 7. My IL-2 does "run" in Win 7 until I try to get into FMB or run a single mission. Then it locks up and crashes. I tried running SecuROM but that does nothing, at least in my case. Someone suggested running it more than once, but I can't understand what good that would do. It seems that some people are having no problem at all with Win 7. I've looked at this website and others, but have not found anything that works. Maybe it's time for me to look for a new game. In any case, good luck.

    Cheers,

    Riptide

Well Dont be surprised .. After All the Steps that were taken .. I have had the same situation .. No Go !! Seems Like all The great titles in sims , at least for flight sims are not compatible with W7 64 bit . I have heard that getting a outside drive with xp service pack 2 works .. so do I buy a external drive with Xp? IDK ? If Anyone has suggestions for us fans of Il2 1946 . We could use some help here , I am getting the inclination that buying a gaming rig with Xp2 loaded on it is the best option ..I surely enjoyed Lockon and I have bought all the Il2 series from day one .. I suppose that that spending a another few dollars will get me what I wish for? And if you flight simmers out there know of Battle Of britain , wings Of glory can that be used on W7 64 bit Os ? Again perhaps not using the dvd and downlaoding Il2 from a direct drive , Would that make a differance ? after all secure rom is a program that by-passes or enhances the Dvd .. I am not understanding what the theroy of Secure rom is. Why it is needed ? Any suggestions .. Once I flew and Now I am saling a sub In SH4 . Its getting boring .. Guess I am missing the dots at %100,and the campaigns I flew In Il2 . I flew As kimura 68 sentai In il2 .. Miss the Hien tony .. woo hoo .. Thanks
