Thanks for the response Arturo. I did create a seperate folder on the C drive.I also usees the install exe you stated. For some reason not all the files seem to install. The first time I was missing the confini file. The second time around I was missing the Files folder in the Root directory. Very strange indeed. As for the mods, I had a bunch. All were working well on XP.

    I can't seem to instll the patches on Il2 on Win7 64bit.

Even if I click "run as admin" and drop the 4.08 and 4.09 patches on the Il2 main directory, when I open up the game, it still says 4.07m. (Runs perfecty on 4.07m at least.)

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you.

Of all the probs. I'm haveing, the patch installation wasn't one of them. Be sure the patches are being extracted to the same directory as the game. What I did: Right clicked on the patch exe., and clicked run as admin. After you give the OK for the file, the install wizard should come up. Here you need to direct where the file should install. By default, it wants to go to C/program files/Ubisoft/1946.

    Thanks for the help.

There was a post in here somewhere about this problem and it gave me the fix: I copied the contents of the IL2 folder (but not the folder header itself, that ends up directing everything back to C:Program files/IL2 yaddah-yaddah), into a new separate file (C;Documents/gamesIL2, or whatever) and then apply the patches there. Worked perfectly.

There are a few ways to fix Win 7 problems. One I am not allowed to mention, the other is to simply copy and paste an install from an XP machine.

Very simple, very quick, controls are already set up, patched etc and bypasses all the bs on the last 3 pages!

Not all the problems, if the XP install had the euro .exe with securom, then you are still going to have the securom problem, which of course is fixed 99% of the time with the securom tool linked at the beginning of this thread. The copying the game folder is a good idea to avoid the install quirks though.

I'v got a new PC and am about to install IL2 1946 (DVD version) on W7 64bit.

Is this the correct procedure and sequence:

Open DVD and install via 'a exe'
Install outside the Program Directory (eg in a new directory called Games)

    Run Patch 4.09 update
    run patch 4.10 update

    Run Securom diagnostic tool

Is it necessary to reboot after installing each patch?

You got most of it but you will need patch 4.08m to go over 4.07m before you install 4.09m.

No reboot necessary, but it's a good idea to test the game after each patch to make sure it's working, that way if any of the patches are causing a problem you'll know which one.
