Well, PF and IL-2 were both released long before even Vista was released, so you can expect that a legacy game is going to struggle a bit on a newer version of Windows.
I haven't tried what you're doing because I bought a copy of IL-2 1946 long since. I really recommend you do this, as it would be everything you are looking for and a lot more on one DVD.

englandwon't use plastic as i only have direct bebit have no pay pal account
i have found a way to get the updates to pacific fighters to work. the first time i installed it i could not get them to update on the second installation i installed pf to my own directory when checking the attributes to the .exe file i found the security settings set to read only and not full controll i reset these to full controll and read write when i retried the up dates these now work so things are not so bad now.

I'm glad you made some progress. Windows 7 does have a tendency to change settings in order to 'protect' the user. Myself, I just dumb the UAC down to 0 and rely on my AV and my router to give me the same high level of protection it always has.

You can use PayPal with a debit card (as long as your a/c has enough money in it) and I've never had problems. Occasionally you will see scam e-mails purporting to be from PayPal, but the answer is never to open attachments or respond to these e-mails. The only time PP would write to you is to confirm a purchase, and they are very careful to identify themselves. Even then, if you're not sure, you can just go to your a/c page and read any messages that way.

    cheers

I must have read every thread on getting IL2 1946 to work with Windows 7, but I'll be damned if I could. I create a seperate folder on my C drive and install it there as administrator. The patches as well. The securom thing keeps telling me there are no updates.

I installed this game twice now, and I've been noticeing that all the game files do not install. I have a Blue Ray player, and a DVD RW. I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem.

As for installing the DX from the disc, I cancel out since I have the latest DX9c installed. BOB2WOV and SH4 play flawlessly on my Windows 7 machine. Why dose pulling teeth seem easier than installing IL2 on Windows 7? Like I said, I followed all the tips and advice from all the threads I've read on the subject, but no go. Could anybody add anything I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

Reply Fish I have the same os When

Here what I did to get it to work

    Create a folder called c;/games/il2 1946

Than insert the disc and open the files on the disk you will than see a little blue box that is called a;something click on that the wizaed will start and than it will default to the old xp path . YOU do Not want that path Instead . click browse . than it will bring up a path in whch you created c;/games/il2 1946 click on that than it should install .

Than if you didnt know already the game has greatly changed They have modded the Il2 with alot of new cool realistic features . I suggest reading this post on the warbirds of prey website http://www.warbirdsofprey.org/index.php?topic=6951.0

    hope this helps ?
