I have read all the bad reviews, but I still bought the game with absolute faith in the developers. The first Il-2 was/is one of my favorite games of all time.
Based on the last few Ubisoft games I bought I'm sure this game was pushed onto the market to early, but I know from the original that there will be many patches anbd support.

PS This is the only game I bought in a year without making sure it worked with the Nvidia 3D glasses first

IL2 is not an Ubisoft game, it's a 1C:Maddox game (Russian developer). Ubisoft are just the western distributor.

However you're likely right about it being pushed out for sale a bit early.

If the developer can weather this storm and stay in business, the new IL-2 game engine will be able to take the new series far beyond what we had with the old IL-2 series.

I hope the game does survive I just shot down my First couple of BF-110's and I'm trying to get the hang of engine management. When I mentioned Ubisoft I was thinking of Silent Hunter 5 which was an epic fail. I failed as well when I bought SH5 without looking into it first.

Hopefully that will be the case, though, with the morons at the game stores it will be a tough ride. Case in point...there were 2 copies of COD on the shelf at one of the Fry's Electronics here in Houston but they were buried behind 5 copies of Wings of Prey. The boxes are a bit similar but that's no excuse. I bought another copy of COD just to give 1C a little helping hand.

Maybe it would have been more noble to give the $50 to starving children rather then to some Russian game maker so's he can make more money over the bomb of a game he developed.

I guess I've got about a third of the confidence in 1c Maddox that I used to have back in the day. It is pretty much a race now to see if MG can bring the title up to a worthy level before it's sponsors pull the plug. Fingers crossed, because it'll be a close run thing.
