Just noticed something wierd happening in the last couple of weeks.
Example Last Night:
1. Boot up computer. All is fine until about 5 minutes in ... screen suddenly goes completely PINK. I can see the mouse pointer but nothing else. I have to RESET.
2. Computer fires up again. It goes for another few minutes ... screen then goes completely black.
3. I check the monitor by hooking it to my laptop ... it is fine. Hook it back to my computer still black.
4. RESET, everything is fine. In fact I can surf the web, play IL2 for hours with no problem.
I have seen the screen go completely BLUE before as well (no this isn't a fatal exception Blue screen but just like the pink screen mentioned above).
This is strange. It doesn't do this all the time, in fact, I maybe see this 2-3 times in the last week. Seems to always shortly after bootup and when I'm just surfing the web.
I took it into the repair shop today, but like always I'm sure they will be unlikely to duplicate this. They mentined they will put the machine through a benchmark. I guess I will see.
Anyone ever seen this or have any idea what the issue could be?
Thanks.

What video card are you using?
I've seen a number of posts on EVGA forums About "pink screen" with Nvidia cards the answers that seem to work are either uninstalling video card drivers and reinstalling the latest version or one of the 177.xx versions. Or a loose power cord connector/weak power supply.

Hi,
It's a Geforce 8800 GT. I'm using the 169.XX drivers, have been for most of the last year no problems. I have found the newer ones don't work as well for IL2.
Strange the problem typically happens shortly after bootup (if it happens) and doesn't when under load playing IL2 or when it works hard.

I can think of three things:
1) The card isn't properly seated in the slot. Pull it out, make sure its relatively clean, and make sure its firmly re-seated.
2) The cards 6pin connector (or is that 2x6pin, I forget) is loose. Pull the connector(s), make sure there is no charring or evidence of any arcing at all, and put them all back in.
3) A component on the card is loose (could be very small) and when the card heats up it gets back into place but when "cold" it isn't.

Thanks for the tips. I'll pass it along to the techies if they can't find anything. I'm sure they will check all this out ... (hopefully) if they are any good at all
