Gee! .....You guys make me feel better!
For years now I have been absolutely convinced that Washington D.C. was the most Screwed-Up, "Bass-Ackwards", counterproductive piece of real estate on the planet!
It's really nice to see that other nations are striving to snatch First Place away from the U.S.!!!!! (I particularly like the 210,000 pound hairdressing allotment!)

Guys...........
I'm walking up to the post now, cigarette trembling due to nerves, I dont need the blindfold OK............. just dont miss.
Celeon, where did you get that picture of my mum?.
I made the queen walk round me once...... god I'm famous!
I dont care how many mp's there are, some can vote in Westminster on matters affecting the whole of the UK (ie. all of them) but not on matters relating to Scotland/Wales/ N.Ireland (only the select few namely the non English constituency mp's).
OK not all matters but a few that are dear to my heart like free/subsidised elderly care, free prescriptions and a few more .......
I dont get how an mp can vote yes in one country, come south and vote no for the same thing thereby denying the 'English' the same rights as the other nations. I dont object one bit to paying for the elderly, infirm or incapacitated but all I'm asking for is a level playing field.
How slanted is the field?....... look up the Barnett Formula.
Scrap that and divvy up the kitty fair and square like mates should and it would more than pay for another tier of 'English' gov't........
One Scottish lady replied to a blog on the subject of the Scots getting free care etc etc and suggested it was because the canny Scots were more thrifty with their cash so they could afford it whilst South of the border we just spent it for the hell of it. Its actually got nothing at all to do with them having several more sheckels to spend per head than the English.
So either share fair all round or I want autonomy for England....... hell some bloke on the radio this afternoon was going on about being able to fly the flag of Yorkshire in Yorkshire without getting prosecuted!.
Freedom for all - thats what I say!..........
Someone wake up the firing squad for gods sake.....

And you are suggesting Scotland should not have a say in Westminster?
By the way I do 100% agree that Scottish mp's should be banned from voting on English only issues.
Sorry for the double post here Mottie, you mentioned the Barnet formula and a level playing field.
England itself is not a level playing field when it comes to spend per head. London and the North East are getting roughly the same spend per head as Scotland where as the South East and the South West are receiving a quarter less per head.
Oh and petitio signed Jambo...![]()

That'll do me.......... for a start.
I was born in the North (Cheshire) and now live in the SE just North of London.
I'll be blunt........ I cant wait to get my rear out of this country and will promptly do so once my youngest is set up and I can retire.
I'm paying a fortune for a pension, that's going to be taxed and if I live long enough to draw my state pension I have no doubt whatsoever that all of us who are taking the governments advice and are not chucking all our cash down our necks but looking to our old age will be means tested and guess what. You wont get the state pension because your OK mate, its them wots sat on their @rses all those years spending anything they earned or got in benefits who have no pension the government has to look after. If your pension comes in at less than the state pension then they'll top it up, bet your life you wont get both.
Like I said - no problem looking after the needy and there are lots out there who need help. If you live in this country then you know there's lots out there milking the system and living off our toil.
Nowt we can do about that as no party will want to be seen to take from the 'needy', there's that many their votes count and too many do gooders willing to shout about it if they did try to withdraw the benefits.......
Now I'm really depressed what with missing the Bismark and all that, my typing fingers getting well blistered and I really should be at sea sinking ships not bleating on about my lot in life so I've said my bit and will now drop the subject.
Well darn it all to u know where. i wanted to sign it, but youve got to be a bloody brit!
By the way just a question off topic...How in
the sam hill do u british afford to fill up a car over there? Isin't gas like 20 bucks a gallon!!!(Exagerrating) But seriously, i thought it was bad here in the U.S. untill i saw it was up to like 8 US dollars a gallon.
