Weird, I got DC'd once, as well as a Sunderland crashed into my old trusty U-803, the IX/D2. I had yellow damage all over the sub, including the conning tower. Made it back with 4.11% hull left and one wounded flak gunner. Nobody dies the mysterious death, weird. Oh, and this is stock game. Anyone get the crew killed in stock game?

Used the IXD2 once, in a mission edited trial mission. Liked the boat, hated the fact that one of its apparently many bugs took two of my torpedos (the greyed box torpedo storage bug). Decided I wouldn't go with it in the campaign, went with a IXC instead.

Wounded Crew: I've gotten wounded crew a (very) few times. Instead of all red, they have a "red lining" around them. I put the medic in the compartment with them, and they healed, but then didn't get the wound badge when back at base.

    1. Many people report the wound badge as non-functional in the game.

    2. I have heard a single report of someone getting it, but his crewman was still injured when he entering port.

    3. Maybe they have to be wounded when entering port to get the badge? (If that's the case, don't get a medic, since they rob you of the wound badge.)

No idea about the mysterious death part.

That was me. Yeah, I found this out a while ago. The wound badge is not issued if the crewman was injured and then healed. The badge is indeed broken, since you can't give it out with conventional means. I had to use Commander. Since then I have a Medic officer just in case, and release the medic petty officer, replacing him with someone more useful.

    Liddabit,
You alluded to it. The boat is haunted - 666, the mark of the beast.

Orrrr, Bernard is up to something in the galley, and the fumes are knocking off your crew. Have him reassigned to swabbing out the deck gun, and then submerge just to let him know of your displeasure.

Well, the cliche would be some sort of horrific string of murders on your U-Boat during an electrical failure. No where to run, huh?
