and is it any good? I have the original TrackIR so will have to pay extra for the hat. My bodged up dot rig on an old baseball hat is coming apart so I am looking at alternatives. Maybe T_O_A_D's ball and tape gizmo: any views?
    Cheers!

I got the trackhat with my TrackIR 2, and it's ok. I haven't used a baseball cap since I was 11, good to learn that they're sold with the brim factory-bent nowadays.

There's a reflector on the back side as well (The little velcro-stub where you adjust size)
so you can use the cap both ways.

This is more practical than I expected, when I have the cap right way on, the movement is more sensitive, since the reflector travels further relative to the sensor. So you can swap real quick between two different "profiles"

Right way for a2a, back for a2g!

Have you read that thread on my set up lately. If not click link below. You only need half of the ball. So a button would work just so it has a sphere shape to it. I have posted ans so have others different variations on the use of an mounting of it.

Well take that back only pics showing are mine since the forum change. I have it backed up on a Word document at home. If you need it.

I here the Hat works, as it should it has a slow curve shave aswell just as a ball does.

Cheers guys, thanks for the replies. I think I will try your method first T_O_A_D, (cos it's cheapest ,) and if I don't get on with it on glasses, then might try mounting it on my old hat. I like the extra sensitivity of the 'dot' being nearer to the unit.
Whatever I end up with, I am so attached to TrackIR, especially since they fixed the drivers.
