I've found a lot of threads on the chronometer and I am very confused. Does the chronometer work now (patch 1.4)? If yes, how shall I use it? I've never found any difficulties in SH3 but in SH4 I'm always told that more date are required. What's the matter? I've found range and angle, what kind of data is missing??

Sure, but that's exactly what I want to determine with the chronometer... Does anybody know if the chronometer is still broken? If that is the case it is simply a scandal as such a bug should have been fixed in the very first patch. If it ain't broken, how are we supposed to use it? I refuse to believe that there isn't an experienced player in this forum that knows the answer to such a simple question...

The Chronometer does work for speed calculation now, but you'll need to take two sets of manual readings before it will work, I was hoping they'd update the manual tdc tutorial to reflect that

    You'll need to do this,

    1. Get a distance reading with the ship overlay.
    2. Get Angle on Bow reading
    3. Get your second distance reading with the ship overlay.
    4. Get your second Angle on Bow reading.
    5. Use chronometer to get your speed reading, then send it to TDC.

If you only get one distance and AOB reading then attempt the chronometer reading it will tell you something like "Insufficient data to determine speed"

So always remember two distance and AOB readings!

I have noticed that if you click on the speed button twice it can give you two different answers. My experience has been that the second is correct but I haven't tried to prove it.

I have to agree this wasn't spelled out to well in the manual and sure isn't smartly done like SHIII. And if the UBI folks read this... the e-mail and help desk manners could use some working.
