I have a feeling we are going to need to do a full reinstall and back up all our skins, careers, missions, and .ini files first.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The way IL2 works you should be able to do a full install into another folder then just copy over the new files. Most likely you could copy the new install over the old one and it would work.

Windows won't let you copy all the FB subdirectories over other subdirectories with the same names, though. And there will be too many files to manually pick and choose what to copy over. If they don't have a provision to install just 4.07 over the top, it would almost seem easier to get rid of the whole program and start from scratch.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I meant to copy your skins and stuff elsewhere, zap the game completely, reinstall from their new dvd, then copy your skins back in.

However, I was just reading another thread where someone said that a lot of the default skins are going to be updated. If the new skins have the same filenames, as they should, now you are faced with having to remove all the old default skins from your backup so as not to copy over their new ones!

the previous DVD was just a single install but you could reinstall over a copy of your existing install and it worked OK .. no reason to suspect this one will be any different

if you are worried just buy and download the update seperately .. its cheaper that way as well
