It's good to know that the heart rate monitor isn't mandatory in EASA2. Someone had written an earlier post that it was required.

The Biggest Loser will likely be my next fitness game investment once I get to 10000 calories in YSFE. I'll still be keeping my eye on EASA2 though.

The booklet/user manual that comes with the game states that the HRM/Tracking System is required. So, that's obviously the intention of the design. I have not tried using it without, but you do receive a warning in the game if you start to open a workout without it being turned on.

after over a week of my stats not saving in-game and the lack of support and resolution of this issue by ubisoft, i think it's time to take a trip to gamestop and make the trade for EASA2.

does someone that has EASA2 know if there is a workout similar to cardio boxing platinum in the game?

also what type of batteries does the heart rate monitor use (AA or AAA or something else)?

There isn't anything quite like YSFE's cardio boxing routine in EASA2. There is an activity called cardio boxing that involves using a virtual heavy bag and I like it quite a lot. Since you can create custom workouts by choosing various exercises within EASA2, I imagine you can put something together that will give you a similar effect. There is also a "Cardio Kick Start Program" that I have not tried but you might want to give it a look.

The HRM uses 2 AA batteries and one set is included.

I've been using EASA2 for over a week now. After once a week, it gives you a cardio test to see how fast your heart recovers to help track your cardio progress. It also asks you to report your weight so you can track your weight loss from week to week.

The floor exercises work fairly well, once you learn to follow the directions on the screen. You have to stand up to allow the sensor to find you and then go down to the floor once it prompts you. You also cannot cheat on your crunches or it will not register them...I think thats more of a bonus than not.

What I really love is that my aerobic step works flawlessly with the step aerobic portions of the workout.

Face it..EASA2 gives you a much more structured workout and it tracks AND rewards your progress much better than YSFE does at the moment. I also dont see what is so awful about using the heart rate monitor. I mean seriously..is it so bad when they can give you accurate biofeedback about exactly how many calories you are burning or whether or not you are working too hard? Not to mention being able to track your cardio progress. Thats much better than a piece of software that just guesses (and doesnt do a very good job of it).

Got EASA2 yesterday. "Played" it @midnight just to get first impressions:

Good stuff (when compared with YSFE):
    - Offers bunch of preset workouts, you can also specify the type and length of workout (cardio, upper, lower body etc..,), or you can just create custom workout
    - heart rate monitor
    - I am not into character customization but it's there
    - variety of excersises, has more high impact activities
    - some activities "masked" as sports/animtaition (mountain bike, soccer, dodgeball etc... instead of 1on1 with trainer. Good to break monotony. I love it.
    - Tolerant to timing (no need to be in rythm if you do it well)
    - Did 20 mins of various activities, once the activity started I never got interrupted (including on the floor stuff)

    Bad:
    - most of on the floor activities require you to stand up first, select user. It looks like an implementation/design issue. I was doing on the floor abs, it worked fine, I tried to stay on the floor (not moving - and I know Kinect can "see" me) until the next routine (also floor one) but the game expected me to stand up first) There is probably time window in which you can do it without getting prompted and hopefully I'll be able to figure it out. Or the patch will fix it? Once I start, works just fine (does not "lose me")
    - Avatar representation much worse then in YSFE: lagging, unnatural movement (animations). It does work though (game corrected me when I was slacking in abs routine
    - Is game maybe too forgiving for some routines allowing you to slack? Hard to say - I have to play more
    - Obviously designed on different platform and ported. Offers tons of stuff, but a bit bitter taste because they probably did not invest enough in Kinect version
    - Only 2 full length multi week programs (not workouts). But YSFE does not have any...

    Unknows:

    - My controller and HR monitor lost connection during profile setup (did not happen in game).
I did one quick 10 min workout with no monitor then exited the game and re-synched devices
    - I did only 10 mins quick routine and couple of 5 minutes custom ones to check mini games and on the floor activities. Still have to see if I see issues like game freezing during long workouts like some other people

Today I'll start with a 9 week program.
I initially planned to combine YSFE (2x a week) and EASA (other days), but if this turns out to be involving enough and does not crash I might get a break from my YSFE routine...just to get some fresh workouts. Still love YSFE and I'm sure I'll be coming back even if EASA works fine.

On the floor exercises, if you take the same position as the trainer at the end of a floor exercise(facing the Kinect, knees up, it seems to track you better without requiring that your stand.

Make sure you keep your face to the Kinect camera, turning away at the wrong time can cause it to lose you. I'm getting used to it. The first workout it lost me 3 times, last time only once and there were more floor exercises in the last workout I did.
