Hey guys, newbie here, have SH4 with 1.4. Played with original also, now that I have gained some slight experience in the game I went to realistic career, on 3rd patrol from Pearl 225 aircraft to get to Hunshu!!!!! I've read **** O'Kanes, Wahoo, Tang, Gene Fluckeys Barb, Sterling Forrests Wake of the Wahoo and this is bull. Has anyone got a way to alter this obvious bug in the game?

I think there's a mod somewhere that makes planes much less frequent, but also a bit more deadly...

Don't know if it's any good I'm afraid.

Did you actually mean 225 aircraft?? Did you really count?

Err.. anyways... The best way to avoid aircraft is to stay submerged during the day and run on the surface during the night.

There's no point in doing it all the way across the pacific, but once you meet the first plane, start that tactic, and the problem is gone... with or without a mod.

I still can't believe you counted...

Mod it to TMO or TMO with training wheels. Way less aircraft! Vanilla it as if the whole Japanese air services are doing time trials overhead.

I decided to count when after encountering excess aircraft on the way back from the prior patrol. They were coming 4 at a time, 2 from North and 2 from South every time I surfaced from about the area of French Frigate Shoals, in daytime. I counted from the time I left to the end of the patrol (out of torps)off Honshu, by making a mark for each then doubled to get a total for the entire time gone. I didn't see any reason to count on the way back.
I didnt know this area existed till a couple days ago. Many many thanks for the tip, I will definately try it.

Also, I think that when they've spotted you once, they keep coming back in greater numbers. If they mark you location every two hours, they know what course you have and can send ever more patrols trying to sink you. I don't know if this has been implemented in the game, but it sure feels like it

I would also recommend the Trigger Maru Overhauled-mod. It gives a lot more immersion and better graphics (in my opinion) than stock SH4.

Either way, good luck and welcome to the forum
