I don't think its applicable to compare todays cutting edge hardware running CloD to what was current running IL-2 when it first came out. The rate of hardware development has far exceeded the rate of game development.Originally posted by Von_Rat:
did anybody really expect to pound the hell out of this game at max settings over the biggest city right out of the box? with any PC on the planet?
heck it was years before anybody pounded the hell out of il2 1946 over berlin.
btw i lowered the forest and building levels to low and get this in big dogfights over water.

that might not be pounding the hell out of it but i find it acceptable.
I don't know if the magnifying glass would be on Cliffs so hard, if there weren't so many people that own Rise of Flight. I don't know if its fair or not but people are looking at RoF and assuming that CloD should have similar performance, where it is apparently far off from.
The high quality of graphics, including very detailed terrain and highly modelled aircraft along with an excellent physics engine, and no slow downs over towns or when 'swaying vegetation' pops up at low altitude, might be leaving a sour taste in peoples mouths when they don't get a similar experience from their hardware in the new IL-2.
I thought no matter where you got the steam code from, it will look at your world location and region lock you? Or is it because those are UK or european game serials they give you, steam looks at that as a european install and it works?Originally posted by bigchump:
I have it and I am in the U.S.
You can buy a CD key from: http://www.justflight.com/
Then DL from Steam (it's much faster) rather than the U.K.
It runs about the same on my old CoreDuo system as it does on my new I-7 rig so it should run on yours as well. Just don't expect much until they fix it.......
Wow so what is wrong with my system?Originally posted by JG14_Jagr:

You're buying a U.K. CD key and I haven't heard any complaints about region code stuff on Steam.
Buy your CD key from JustFlight then use your regular Steam account. Click on "Activate a game on Steam" and two hours later you'll be flying. Check the 1C forums if you want more info.
Okay bigchump, thanks for the heads up. Might pick it up in the next couple days and see what all the 'fuss' is about.Originally posted by bigchump:
