    Hallo,

Does somebody here know some of the expressions used by german real pilots (bombers too) during WW2?

I would also appreciate to have a transcription and translation of the IL2 pilots conversation so that i can fly my campaigns without subtitles.

Using real terms will add some immersion in my coops too!

    Vielen Danke!

If you don't get any bites here, note there are also German language forums for this game. You'll get some responses with a post for assistance, even if it's in English

The forum list is at the bottom left of the main menu.

So what expressions do you need?

There is a difference between normal German and the German used by pilots (i.e. pilot slang, just like bogey, angels, pancake and similar words used by the allies).

I will name a few, starting with the normal German word, then the "pilots term" and translation.

    +Höhe/Kirchturm - Altitude/church tower
    +Geschwindigkeit/Eile - Velocity/speediness
    +Richtung/Kurs - direction/course,bearing
    +Kontakt/Indianer - bogey/bandit (i.e. unknown contact, enemy contact)
    +4-Mot/Möbelwagen - 4 engine bomber/furniture lorry
    +Heimatbasis/Gartenzaun - homebase/garden fence

    Okay, too slow

I'll be doing those transcriptions you asked for when I come back from work.

But I am not sure if I can do this without phonetic letters.

P.S. It's Vielen Dank, without an "e" at the end.
