Immortals Fenyx Rising has been taken off Intel's list of games that are not compatible with their 12th gen Alder Lake CPUs. The reality is that the game runs just awful on my system with an Alder Lake 12900K CPU and an RTX3080.
I've got an MSI Pro Z690A motherboard, installed the latest bios, installed the latest nvidia drivers and Windows 10 is up to date. I expected the game to run fine now it's been taken of the incompatiblity list but in reality the game is unplayable because of all the 2-4 second freezes I get every minute. That's just walking through the game world with nothing much going on. The Tartarus sections also see freezes and frame drops, in particular when looking at the stars. It doesn't make any difference whether I press the scoll lock key to turn on Legacy Game Compatibility Mode, the game still runs extremely poorly.
When when I disable the new efficiency cores, then all problems completely disappear: no slowdowns and sudden frame drops. But of course, I don't want to turn off the e cores just to play this game.
Are there others having the same problem? Is Ubisoft aware of this? Will this be fixed?
Hey Sasvdk, thanks for reaching out about this, and welcome to the forums. Sorry to hear you've found your game to stutter for a few seconds when you've got all your CPU cores active - that sounds most frustrating.
You'd mentioned making sure you've got your drivers and Windows install fully updated, which is great. Please see our troubleshooting guide, which describes how to verify the game files, and explains how to check for background programs that might conflict with the game - can you do those steps for me too, and see if this improves the stutters at all?
If not, please see our system report files article. With the two files it describes, I'll be able to see that this gets reported to our teams so we can investigate further internally. Let me know once you've got those two files prepared, and I'll create a support case you can use to send them across to us securely.
Let me know if you've any questions about these two processes at all![]()
Hey there guys!
sasvdk - could you please create a case on our Support Site to send us your system files?
You're also welcome to reach is via Facebook and Twitter.
Sorry to hear you're also having issues ImSoDaniel - if you haven't done so already could you please ensure you follow all the steps posted by Ubi-Thrupney above and send us your system files if you still have issues?
Thank you!
Hey, the cases close automatically after 4 days if we have not heard from you. I can see that you already have a case that is still open and this issue is being looked into for you.Originally Posted by sasvdk Go to original post
We will provide an update on your support case as soon as we can.
Thank you.
I upgraded from WIndows 10 to Windows 11 this evening. And guess what: the performance problems with Immortals Fenyx Rising seem to be gone now. I played the game for ten minutes and the game ran fine today. I didn't even have the use the scoll lock kludge that turns off the e-cores of my Core i9 12900K CPU.
The last time I tried the game on Windows 10 I'd downgraded the Nvidia driver to a much older version and when that didn't improve the performance I upgraded to the most recent Nvidia drivers (511.23). I'm using the same Nvidia drivers in Windows 11. The real change must be Windows 11's task scheduler that's supposedly optimized for Alder Lake processor. In the case of IFR it finally made the game playable for me.
Thanks for coming back to us sasvdk, I appreciate you giving this information and I am happy to see the problem has seemingly been resolved after upgrading to Windows 11. I will make sure to pass this on to our Immortals team, so they are aware of this. Should you have any further issues with the game, please reach out to us again. Take care friend.
This is the exact same problem I'm encountering. In addition, I have a 12900k and an MSI motherboard (Z690 Force Wifi). I'm having the same problem with 2-4 second freezes on a regular basis. I attempted the game mode hack, but nothing changed. It's a disaster.
