I'm afraid that 2 years wait for a sign that this game can be improved is way too long. And at the end we will be disappointed again (which is much more realistic at this point)

I don't mind the wait if they truly start moving this back to a better game. It takes time to develop content and change basic game parameters. I just need some convincing they really understand what we are asking and their refusal to communicate is making it hard to be optimistic.

the amount of trust after 2 years is amazing we had the base game and the TUs that followed after that one disappointment after an other and whoever thinks motherlands its gonna change something is lying to himself there is a reason they are not promoting the update the reason is not because of spoilers surprises its because there is nothing to promote

I'm actually in agreement with Oompa Looma. on this. I don't see this as an homage to Wildlands. That could have been achieved without reusing the same intro. It' was simply a way for Ubi to save some money, since it' would be cheaper to edit an existing cutscene, than to create a new one from scratch. And the fact that some people are actually praising them for this move, is only going to emboldens Ubi to do it again. .

Edit. But with that being said, I still have high hopes for the actual DLC. even against my better judgement.

It's not an edit of an existing cutscene or a re-master, it's a total remake using the same screenplay. At any particular point most of the characters are in slightly different positions to the original and there are multiple differences that show it's a remake.

I think it is intended to be a homage, and why not? If that is the message they want to get across and what Motherland is trying to achieve, then that's a good sign to me.

Guys look what is going on with Battlefield 2042. DICE is releasing new continent about how the game developing is going, replying about fans considerations and showing new trailers here and there. Ubi didn't even bothered to say more about why cancelling a programmed test. Didn't give any info if they are considering to make any changes after the bad reviews they got in the anniversary reveal video. In my opinion they have no idea what they re doing. And by not giving any info before the actual release of Motherland or Flopline, they are avoiding to show that they actually have nothing to show. And it will be a bit late after that for us to complain again.
WHY everything with this franchise has to be so secret? Some communication with the devs would actually improve our opinions maybe. Or our expectations

on the one hand - the trailer looks like a love letter to the players. On the other hand - nothing concrete was shown in the trailer, which may mean that the content in the update itself is rather mediocre, not good enough to be presented openly and does not deserve a decent promotion, not profitable in order to invest more resources in this promotion.
So, in this other hand - a love letter is not really a love letter, but a cheap attempt to play on the feelings of Wildlands lovers (I would like to be wrong)

for example, if a new large location and civil traffic were in update - just a little hint showing these things in the trailer could attract a lot of players attention, because this is something really new and big. This is an instant boost to popularity and positive among players. If something really cool like that, will actually be in the update - there is no reason not to show it for so long. It's just not profitable way of promotion

Maybe the developers did something really grand and not showing this, because decided to make a surprise - I would like it to be that way, but this speculation looks pretty unconvincing, to be honest. But, we will see soon

I can certainly see the similarities between both from that side by side and it's clear to all. What's not clear is why so saying it's lazy it's just someone putting a low blow in yet again.

Taking it as a positive, it could quite easily be a homage to WL, possibly just a homage to Bowman and that's just how they ride in together for any mission, or even a tease that this DLC is going to WL-esque in the missions perhaps where we'll have to investigate and take down each region?? Who knows.

Negatively, of course it's easy just to say it's lazy, quick and cheap to do but they did have to still put BPs environment into the scenes.

I will always be a little more optimistic on these until I get more solid info and/or it drops (whichever is sooner) and this is only because I've paid money for the game at launch and I'm getting free DLC adding to the game when we could've got nought more, otherwise why would I care.

I, like others, though would like more info on it and what other additions to the game are coming. Would be nice to know if there are any decent gameplay updates.

I saw it as an homage to Wildlands, BUT… not to sound like a hater, just, objectively speaking: it does kind of look/feel low-budget-y, tbh. Low production value and fan-made adjacent. #SorryButItsTrue 🤷*♀️

How great would it be though, to see a “back to basics” update, full of Wildlands goodies? Can you imagine? Maybe containing a nice, sensible ponytail with Nomad’s cap forward; a braid, a decent bun… Murphy, Foxy, Mason, Keller, Sparky (all those non-hideous faces ported over)? Clothing that fits? No battle belts? Ahhh…

My hope is that they have deliberately copied much from Wildlands as a response to the feedback we’ve been providing. Much of which can be summarised as, ‘Wildlands is much better.’

So hopefully the trailer is to hint at what is to come, but we’ll see. The mere fact that they announced Frontline, seemingly without the slightest clue about the backlash it would cause, does somewhat dent my confidence.
