So I snagged the FG DLC for free last week during the Ubi GR anniversary.
Its really great, nice and tough. However the weather. Oh man, its just rain rain rain rain and more rain and rain after that along with some more rain and then some more rain after that in addition to some more rain.
Any mods or tweaks out there that can give permanent clear weather or at least reduce the rainfall. Is there a script file that I could tweak or something?
Yes, the bad weather is heavily over the top but in a few minutes you'll get used to. Well, perhaps not used to completely but you'll get on with it, there is no other way. It does go with the territory and how the missions are set up but typical UBI, it is either extreme in one way or the other.
I do prefer this DLC over the Vanilla in the fact that you can have more fun in firefights, as in if you take 5 shots to die so does the enemy, still lazy-esque effort, don't get me wrong but the having bullet sponge on both sides helps with the fun and the entertainment, sans, the weather of course.
Now, being said that, I do believe as you progress in the campaign, the weather also gets better. What I did noticed, its been a few months, that the nights are longer than the days and well, at my age and with the horrible green filter, night missions are dreadful to do. Again, for me and my eyesight. I know some people prefer night missions as most enemies are sleeping or what have you but I am more of a masochist and like the fighting and shooting more, which, in turn dictates that I am going to die more often and perhaps not due to my negligence but some of it because of bugs and glitches.
I wish that when they gave us the option to change time in the vanilla, they could have done so with the FG DLC but... C'est La Vie
At the end of the day I still maintain that more fun can be obtain from FG than even with the vanilla... my opinion of course and your miles may vary, no doubt.
I am having a LOT of fun in this DLC. I play without the HUD and even just on Regular difficulty I get wasted a lot if im not careful. Im starting to settle on the most effective weapons. The number of guns locked behind microtrans is such a bore, many of them are what I have access to anyway in the base game so I dont understand that part of it. Anyhow I stopped caring about that because I found the good guns.Originally Posted by FcAc-No-Moe Go to original post
Another bizarre Ubi design feature (apart from the excessive bad weather) is the inability to mod the "special" weapons. This of course is present in all their shooters. Somehow in their game world its impossible to remove a scope from the rail of a "special" and put on another one.
The DLC suffers from the same gripes as the base game with my personal favorite being enemies rushing TOWARDS you blazing away while you are in a HELICOPTER GUNSHIP with two Gatling guns blasting away.
The Watchtower side missions are heavily bugged, like full of bugs, I just gave up on them altogether. I only wanted to do them to be able to call in an armored SUV or helicopter but then realized those two things are not THAT hard to find parked all round the place.
More ridiculousness - certain bad guys keep standing even after multiple direct headshots. Sigh. However good point on the mutual bulltet sponginess.
Having said all that I am having a ton of fun in this DLC and glad I got it free.
I did my first run with only minimap because if not I don't know where to go or where I am going and CrossHair, otherwise I get motion sickness, more so with the clunky moves of TPS. No clouds or knowing where the enemy is but, because of the lazy-esque effort put forth into the enemy and ai teammates, enemies spawning on your back, bugs & glitches add nauseum (all the inefficiencies that we have stated before) I realize that I was just torturing myself and I decided that if I was to have some fun, after all this is the main reason why I buy a shooter game, I was going to allow myself to know where the enemy was and this way at least I could set up to be able to endure enough of a fire fight if need be, the shoot once or twice, displace, wait for the cooldown of the enemy, rinse and repeat was getting old.Originally Posted by DV20Katana Go to original post
And again, the fact that we are both bullet sponges makes the fire fights more fun, but at the same time, the lack of effort is noticeable but, talking about it then did nothing, talking about it now will yield even less resorts so you gotta do what you gotta do
Again, we can discuss this until we turn blue in the face but if the people who tested it didn't say anything or much or perhaps did but UBI didn't do anything and they and the majority of the community accepted it, what are you going to do now... assimilation is the only solution to having funOriginally Posted by DV20Katana Go to original post
Those are the least impressive and the one where you can see more the lack of effort and pride in their work for sure but they are doable, leave them for last... lots and lots of rebel spotting, rebel diversion and guns for hire is needed here because again, your teammates are, well, I have no words to use or comment as to the what was the guy coding or programming this smoking or snorting at the time or who was he talking to when he was doing testing on it.Originally Posted by DV20Katana Go to original post
Well, like I said, this is similar to what you have in the Vanilla game, hence, why I don't understand why people were or even are ok with this kind of gameplay mechanic, unless of course, like I said before, you play and use Guerrilla Tactics, shoot, displace, move back, wait for them to become unalerted, comeback and shoot again. Don't get me wrong it is a tactic and very efficient tactic to say the least but if that is what most use for stealth, that is not how I see it.Originally Posted by DV20Katana Go to original post
At the end of the day though, and we both agree, the mutual sponginess helps a lot.
Oh and I could have done w/o the invisible dudes as well, more so because the countermeasure is as cheesy as the mission to get rid of them and please, don't get me started on the dude wearing a cotton mask that apparently has an invisible shield because he can take up to a few hits to brought down but all of these adds to the enjoyment of the game because he also shoots at you with what looks like a light LMG and you don't die easily. For those guys I used have a hard time getting them down because I was trying to kill them with a sniper rifle (silly me thinking that a .50 cal round would have better effect than a regular 5.56 ASR round but, what do you know UBI is right again and it isn't) it is easier to burst shoot him with the M4A1 so there... mystery solved for you
My only other suggestion is to try it in one of the lowest level of difficulty then on your next playthrough go full Master Blaster on Hardcore of whatever the highest level is (it may very well be Extreme as well).
The Airport in Villa Verde is a nice place to start a ruckus between the Mercenaries, SB and Unidad... sometimes hard as you try nothing happens and they are all dead quick and the next time when you are not ready nor set up, the whole Bolvia Unidad unit, SBs & Mercenaries are ready to bring you down so I can't really tell you how the whole thing starts but it is one of the places I go when I just want to blast away and see how many vehicles and Helos I can bring down to the party.![]()
