I recently upgraded my computer and figured i would play some GRB again and test out the graphics. I installed and played for a good 3-4 days with everything being ok. But at some point, from one day to another, without having done anything, without having changed any options or updated the game (not that i noticed anyways), not having installed or changed anything on my computer - suddenly the game keeps thinking i have a controller plugged in. I can still press keys (like space to continue from the main screen, for instance - thats usually as far as i get), but i can hardly move my mouse. It literally feels like there is a magnet where the cursor is and whenever i move it, it gets dragged back to that point. I can see whatever promts are there is listed as controller promts (press A to this, B to that and so forth).
I have tried verifying the files, uninstalling the game and reinstalling. Disabled anything running in the background that wasnt needed for the game. Finally i dug up my controller for my ps4 (which i have not once used on my new rig, havent even installed any software for it or had it plugged in) and looked through the menus and found an option to turn off controller (which was turned on - not something i myself have done, since as mentioned, i dont use controller). I unplugged the controller and put it away, thinking that was the issue, the game went back to normal - at least until the next time i started the game and every time without fail, since then.
Every single time i have to plug in the controller and unplug it again to get my usual mouse & keyboard control. Its a small issue, but its a pain the butt having to do it over and over. The game has never once done anything like that in the time i have played the game. Is there a fix for this?

Thank you for getting in touch and reporting this as well as the extensive troubleshooting you've already tried!
So you don't have any other USB peripherals installed at all?
And could you please try deleting the game's config file?
You should be able to view this by going to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Ghost Recon Breakpoint\ where there will be a config or .ini files.
Please delete this then relaunch the game and let us know if there's any changes!
The only other USB devices i have is my keyboard (obviously :P) and a USB hub which currently and whenever i have tried launching the game had nothing connected to it.
I tried deleting the GRB.ini file in the folder mentioned, which was the only .ini files there to my knowledge. It didnt have any effect, just reset my configs
Sorry for the late answer, but due to Far cry 6 i put down breakpoint for a few days. My keyboard and mouse are both wired. I was convinced that it was confined to only happen in breakpoint, but it just did the same thing in far cry 6. The game has run flawless since launch with no issues what so ever and now it does this controller thing as well.
So far i have only experienced it in ubisoft games, so im thinking it has something to do with the launcher or some setting in ubisoft games that is either turned on or off. I grasping at straws here, since i cant for the life of me come up with any reasons why they suddenly start doing this and in both cases after having run for days with no hickups and the out of nowhere begin.
I play various sim games on occation, like for instance euro truck sim 2, which i have played since i got the new computer. For steering wheel to work, i need (unless that has changed without me finding out) to have vjoy installed. Could that be the cause somehow?
I would like to add that even though i have a steering wheel i use from time to time, its never plugged in when im not playing the games its for. I will try and uninstall vjoy and see if that does anything (other than maybe not making my steering wheel work in the sim games).
Hey,
I would suggest creating a thread in the Far Cry 6 forum if you haven't already, just in case a fix comes up in there and those forums are more likely going to be busier at the moment with it being a newer game, someone might see it who already knows how to resolve it.
Going back to your workaround that you have to do currently, if you were to exit the game straight after changing it to disable controller and relaunch the game, without even playing, does it do the same thing? Or is it only after playing a session and having turned off the PC?
After having toyed around with it for a while, i have come to the conclusion that vjoy had nothing to do with it. After uninstalling it, it kept giving me issues.
I have an 8 port Logilink USB, where i had my phone plugged into, to recharge it. It seems even with only the cable, and not the phone plugged it caused the issues. So either having a cable plugged in alone with nothing attached to it can cause it (something i wouldnt have ever thought would be an issue) or there is something with the logilink that cause an issues.
Unless its just freak luck and i did something else without knowing it, it seems to have resolved the issue - for now at least. Since the game earlier ran for days without problems and then starting up again, i wouldnt call this a fix just yet. But for now it seems to have been the issue, because neither far cry 6 or GRB has done it since unplugging the cable.
For now i will give it some time and see if the problem starts up again, but should i not reply, consider it resolved. Thanks for your assistance for now, much appreciated.
Thanks for letting us know this has resolved it for you. I know it's really strange how a random USB device being plugged in, even with nothing else plugged in to that can cause an issue, but it must be something to do with how some devices are configured that games can sometimes think they are controllers.
