If you didn’t run a cancel spell/player then Pope + MBP was incredibly difficult to deal with, and an easy win that required little skill to pull off.
I am personally happy that that combo is no longer around, but I agree the nerf went way too far. They could have simply reduced his resurrection to max cost 5, or made it so he couldn’t resurrect legendary cards; or made it so he resurrected (well technically summoned) a random card from your hand (like Call Girls warcry) with no max energy cost. With the last example you could still resurrect both Call Girl & MBP but it wouldn’t be guaranteed and therefore not so OP.
RIP: Pope Timmy
Oh, but Pope Timmy still lives! By arranging a deck with him, ManBearPig/Scuzzlebutt, and 2-cost units, Pope Timmy’s summoning of expensive units is guaranteed! (The rest of the slots are to be filled with Spells, Traps, and Totems.)
Superheroes works best with this kind of deck. Captain Diabetes and Chaos Hamsters are 2-cost, both Trap cards and Super Fart are cheap, and Mysterion never has to be drawn again (as long as he isn’t transformed). The fast card cycling is amazing.
