Interesting setting.
Cute animals.
I'm definitely good.
May may be GOTY for me, it's been a quiet year.

I'm an Atari- Sinclair zx Spectrum era player, so here's hoping this makes very clear that I'm far from a casual player, and still have played FC5 a lot more than any other entry but FC2.Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
I can't help but find all of those excuses you say (and many others that criticized FC5 hard) beyond ridiculous, in particular the one regarding the many enemies you found in the road in the first versions. Have you ever thought that this is an USA road, which mean there should be more traffic/enemies than in the roads found in fc2,3,4 etc?, the cult had all of them controlled, and the point of that too was that we were prompt not to go on the road too much and use the countryside to move around the map, finding stuff, hunting animals with the bow, fishing etc. But no, the children began crying about that, Ubisoft dumbed it down. **** you "fans"!
On a side note, this reminds me of other ridiculous embarrassing "fan" complaints like the classic with Doom3, when "fans" criticized the game for being too dark (lol), which was precisely the point of the entire game, to fight the demons in very dark conditions, switching between your flashlight and weapons quick. What happened in the end?, we got the experience watered down version, the RPG version, where children, crybabies and ladies alike could enjoy a doom3 with brightness increased too much and other dumbed down stuff . Great!, **** you "fans"!
Then you say the Halo regeneration system. You play the game on hardcore mode?, do it and you'll see how helpful it is, among other things because life regeneration takes a lot more time to activate, rendering it useless in the middle of any engagement. Hardcore also hugely increases the ability of the enemies to spot you (almost instant detection and even on a distance, which fans were criticizing so much because they said the enemies were dumb in this area lol, try hardcore then and see), and makes the shielding ability (the blue with a shield) truly useful, because you're going down in three shots (one of a shotgunner) if you're not wearing a bullet-proof vest.
The one you say about wildlife interactions..., it's just so dumb of an excuse I won't even comment, specially when the point of the game, like I said above, was to use the countryside environment to move around. Getting mauled by 3 bears lol. Did you even know you had the ability to make you so strong in melee (the red one with a fist)?, then when you find a bear man, use it, switch to melee weapon fast and kill a bear and other big dangerous animals in one hit, which btw also grants you double skin gains as if you had killed them with the bow. But ok I guess you haven't played FC5 enough to even know about this, right?
Then the removal of animal skinning and all that. I agree that it is an immersion loss, but what about the other cool stuff that was finally integrated in the far cry series, like the new balistics, or bullet physics?, yeah they are simple, but it was a very nice addition specially for those who like sniping. The very few stuff loss to FC5 such like that definitely is irelevant when compared to the gains like this.
And FC5 ost?, omg they should have won an award or something. Tell me of another FC instalment featuring such a supine OST.
And the promotion videos with real life Joshep coming in helicopter to give a real life speech..., and the short movie with real actors too.., Ubisoft truly gave everything they could for good with FC5.
FC5 has been the best by far due to obvious reason, and a letter of love to FC fans regardless what many say. It is out of question regardless you may like this other entry more or less.
Oh well FC3 fanatics...
Like I used to say when FC5 was released..., who would have told us that USA made fore such an amazing setting in a Far Cry game.
I’m a ZX Sinclair era player too.Originally Posted by olalaquebien Go to original post
So what?
I get it — you really enjoyed FC5.
But with regard to open worlds — I think less is more.
When something occurs it actually feels exciting and stimulates a sense of intrigue. When the player is being bombarded every 10 seconds it becomes over saturation, random encounters no longer feel special, it’s “ohh look it’s yet another Bear, it’s the 8th Bear I’ve seen in the last 20mins!”
You ever play FC:PRIMAL on Survivor Mode — Perfection!
Same with the jeep patrols on the road. Listen I get it, there would be patrols — but when a jeep rolls up every 60 seconds it starts break immersion and becomes a little absurd.
With regard to regenerating health — I personally hate the mechanic.
In games like HALO I can accept it as it’s part of the fiction. But games like FAR CRY — I think the health mechanic they had before was fine. You are human after all and not one of the X-Men.
I also think having regenerating health in a game like this robs the game of tense combat encounters, especially post combat, when you are low in health and have to carefully navigate the game world whilst searching for supplies. If your health simply shoots back up after combat, those experiences are lost.
The same goes for running out of ammo in games and those moments creating tension. It’s the same point.
The player has to get creative or retreat … there’s a sense of satisfaction over coming difficult situations whilst running low on resources, not too mention giveing purpose to exploration, having to scavenge / search for supplies.
I’m not saying FAR CRY 5 was a bad game. It was ok.
I did love the landscape. I also loved the guns/fangs for hire mechanic. It was just that the game was pretty easy so it made having a buddy NPC with you kinda redundant. But it was a great mechanic all the same (although AI was a little dumb).
The problem with the difficulty was it was poorly balanced.
Hardcore was definitely an improvement —Everything in the open world was better difficulty wise, but the ‘on rails’ sections were almost impossible.
And yeah - I agree about addition of physics with bullet impact. For sure I hated the canned death animations in FC3&4 when shooting enemies.
And OST was good.
I think you didn't persist for longer with infamous mode. Either that or you didn't understand fairly well that neither of that stuff you label as issues, are actually those, as I have provided you with quick solutions for some, and let you know what was the point of heavily populated roads, either cult and civilians.
If you played infamous persistently you would see things differently, as that those issues are not that at all. You say story missions are almsot impossible, and that either makes me think you're playing on a pad or are not that good at this difficulty, which hey np. Infamous turns the cult outpost raids and dealing with scattered enemis both on the road and in the countrise way more interesting, and with the bullet physics it's been kinda huge improvement. You have to see it that way.
Actual issues are for instance the fall damage, which is laughable even upgraded (thankfully Resistance Mod fixed that); the glitchy driving system, etc.
Also, another con to FC5 was that it wasn't rain, and nights not that dark as usual since fc3. Fortunately, Resistance Mod fixes that too.
Those are issues.
And there's nothing worse in a franchise like this that not having prone, as well as an inexplicable reasoning.
Now that is an issue!

More ACTUAL issues with FC5?, how could I have forgotten about Denuvo, being of course the issue number one in an already CPU heavy demanding game, making processors like a mighty i74790k going over 99% usage when you have framerate disabled = ROFLcopter
A company has the right to protect its product, but not at the consumer's welfare cost, and there can be no welfare found where Denuvo is running on both your cpu, disk and memory.
That was a true issue with FC5, and the fact they didn't remove Denuvo after first year makes me think twice about purchasing FC6, at the very least for one year. You cannot allow pirates might enjoy a better version of the game just because they cracked the protection, see Resident Evil 8 case with Capcom. Denuvo is implemented even worse on FC, see CPU usages on very good CPUS. Those percentages without framecap are a sight to behold, (and with frame cap too).
Anther ACTUAL issue?, what about the shuttering on PC caused by poor shader loading techniq for not adapting them to both nvidia and amd drivers, but just for the console version?
Now that's another issue!
And no Prone!, yet another one.
Those are issues
Ha Ha ! Like that….Originally Posted by SofaJockey Go to original post

So I don’t know whether that mode addresses the insane frequency of animals in the wilderness or road patrols — did it?
I still will never like health regeneration in a game like this. Bring back medkits and segmented health bars! Hopefully FC6 might do this at least.
But to be clear — when I say ‘on rails’ sections I just mean the bits when your locked into a vehicle and have to run the gauntlet… yes with a game pad we’re ridiculous ! Most of the story missions were fine.
I prefer games to be hard-core, I like a challenge, especially in the open world games, but I like difficulties to be fair. The on the rail segments of some story missions did not feel fair or balanced. Missions within the open world, I was fine. Quite stealthy methodical Player myself so I really have problems.
"Infamous" mode (hardcore top difficulty). "Resistance Mod" is a well known modification for the game that everyone's know about and use it. Best of it that not only adds a ton of stuff you were missing like animal skinning, but also weather cycle with rain, and the possibility of adjusting enemy/animal encounters and more. Also fixes (if you want) the laughable fall damage, which is an issue in FC5 such as it was in FC3.Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
Huge huge mod pack that allows you to choose all those of your convenience to make of FC5 an even better instalment.
.No. It was added in later versions of the game as popular request.Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
Again, to adress something you consider an issue?, that is no an issue man. You will find same ammount of animals and they will be tougher of course. But didn't I provide you, again, with a method to deal with those situation with bears and other dangerous?, just use red punch drug and switch melee. One hit and they go down. And they will also grant you double skin like if you killed them with the bow. The you have the "Resistance Mod" that you should download that allows you to fix the chances for animal and human encounters, and heavy patrols etc, for both road and countryside.Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
And again. Health regeneration becomes useless in infamous difficulty, as it takes too long to activate in the middle of a fight, rendering it useless. This gives other drugs like the blue shielding one much more meaning and usefulness, specially if you aren't wearing bullet-proof jacket.Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
I don't understand. You mean those parts when you are in the vehicle with friggin' annoying Hurk, and have to eat all the speech?, ok, but there's little bit of this in the game. An issue would be the damn auto-kidnapping when you get marked, even when using helicopters and planes lol. Now that's a ridiculous issue, but that can be also fixed with the "Resistance Mod".Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
It's pretty fair once you get the hang of it. You just didn't discover the entirety of the FC5 experience going full Infamous mode in a persistent fashion. You go down in one shotgun hit (point black or near this) without bullet-proof vest, etc more fair things.Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
