I understand how you feel, 3rd person is my preference, but 1st person is Far Cry's thing.Originally Posted by Tonyforster10 Go to original post
In FC6 you do get 3rd person cutscenes and 3rd person in camp, so you can enjoy that and embrace the first person combat which is just fine.![]()
Why? How then this game will be different from 3rd person games like Ghost Recon or Watch Dogs? I really dislike that cutscenes and camp area are in 3rd person. This greatly breaks immersion for me. I would have preferred that Far Cry stayed completely FPS game.Originally Posted by Tonyforster10 Go to original post
Far Cry is at the crossroad .....to stay 1st person or transform into 3d person.
Each has its own advantages and disadvantages.
What to do?
Switch between is not a good solution.
For the sake of experiment, it wouldn't be bad to develop 3d person Far Cry.
May be, not a big game, but something like "Primal" or "New Dawn".
Test is needed - how it works on this particular game.
Because when you make a game that can do both 3rd and 1st person perspectives, it never does either of them to their best potential. You get a diminished experience from both perspectives, rather than a more finely tuned experience with just one.Originally Posted by W4rrior81 Go to original post
3d person cutscenes in 1st person game spoils the 1st person immersion - something that happens to you, like in real life.
When someone talks to you.....he or she talks to you.
Looking into your eyes.
Speaking TO YOU.
Eye to eye.
1st person experince in the game organically turns into 1st person experience in the cutscene.
3d person person cutscenes brings dissonance.
But 3d person game, in general, has a clear advantage over 1st person game - Customization.
3d person means additional incentive for customization.
Because now we see how we look all the time.
Which means additional incentive for people to buy something.
Which means more money for Far Cry.
