Again my personal opinion is that it shouldn’t be put in a GR game.
But I like to try and play devils advocate and understand all sides of the arguement
The reason I ask is because someone mentioned the other day about (not on here) about some of the little things you could do in Goldeneye like big head mode and it got me thinking that as a purely end game idea that t they could add a similar idea?
In reality all I would be talking about would be effectively re-skinning the NPCs and slowing down their walking speed
GoldenEye 007 was an arcade shooter. The Ghost Recon series is not. I am absolutely against the idea of putting zombies, or dinosaurs (some have requested a Jurassic Park DLC), or Terminators, or Predators, or Aliens (some have floated this idea as well), or any other non-Ghost Recon content in a Ghost Recon game, in any form. I think it's a waste of development time. And yes, that includes Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell content.Originally Posted by Sandilands85 Go to original post
Some might argue then, as some have on Reddit, that this is an elitist mindset that doesn't consider the more casual GR players. I'll go one step further than the question you posed: I don't think Ubisoft Paris should cater to such an audience and their desires. I don't care about the players who only came to this franchise for the crossovers. I don't think they should be catered to. If they walk away from the series because there are no more Rainbow Six or Splinter Cell crossovers, then so be it. I don't want that for Ghost Recon, especially when the studio can't even get the "Ghost Recon" part of the game right. If they can make a game that actually respects Ghost Recon lore and provides an actual authentic US Tier 1 special operations gameplay experience, then I'll be more open to post-launch DLC that is non-canon and includes these silly crossovers, events, and special modes. Until Ubisoft Paris (or whichever studio makes the next game) does that right, I'll oppose any non-GR content, and that certainly includes zombies.
The fact that this game has the TC/GR tag to it does not make it either a TC nor a GR game so yeah, bring Zombies into it, it can only help the game get some life. We know they will throw in a minimum effort to it so it may just work out better for the game. Hell, think about it, a zombie guy that you can't see half of its body could be considered a work of art.
No thanks.
Personally, I don't care to understand why some want the game to be dumbed down, turned into a sci-fi shooter, want Ubi to spend time introducing zombies to the game instead of trying to makin it better GR game, etc., etc. ......but if that's who Ubi chooses to listen to when developing the next iteration, then I'm done. ....simple as that.
It would be a different story if they put out a solid GR title worthy of the name to start with. I thought the zombie DLC for RDR1 was kinda fun but RDR was a solid, full gameplay experience to start with. BP just feels like one big compromise.
You could do zombies or really any supernatural event in a GR game if you are creative enough. The only real thing you have to worry about are people who will complain about having a weird content release instead of something more "grounded" in reality.Originally Posted by Sandilands85 Go to original post
How would I do it? as an event that you can access through the Bivouac or Erewhon campfire menu. The campfire is a logical place for you and your team to get some rest and some sleep right? when people sleep they have dreams and nightmares. So there you go...a somewhat immersive way for Nomad to fight it out with zombies. You go to "sleep" to start the event, Nomad lays down to get some shuteye and it starts a dream sequence and you wake up in the dream fighting zombies and whatnot.

Considering how Breakpoint was never really an entry in the series people embraced, but also considering how it has a solid foundation nontheless to introduce a lot of sandbox elements, I wouldn't necessarily mind a zombie world modifier. For Breakpoint to have a future after the last update I think they need to add as much control and as many toys to the game for the player to mess about with as possible to increase the replayability. But it has to be fun tools. It has to be done right and that is probably my only immediate source of hesitation.
The Terminators could have been fun to mess around with too, but they have the most glaringly basic, barebones and frustrating AI you can possibly imagine - even for a robot. They know immediately where you are when they spawn no matter how well you've hidden, and they are very rarely any fun to engage when you do decide to have a go at them. If Ubisoft added a zombie world modifier with anywhere near the same AI standard it would do far more harm than good. Creating zombie-esque enemies that behave and engage other NPCs and move in the environment as you might expect probably takes quite a bit of work.
