To be clear, I'm not opposed to a sleeping mechanic to change the time of day, just gave me a chuckle that such a trivial aspect would be the deciding factor on whether or not someone would buy the game. Sure it's a nice option to have, but a lack of it isn't something that would prevent me from buying it.
Also, no developer is going to take the time and effort to create a bunch of animations for specific actions only to have them as a toggle-able option, especially if they think most people would disable them. Skinning animations were great and I wish they'd bring them back, but enough people got tired of them that they made them a toggle, and when they realized many people preferred that, ditched them all together. I can understand that logic, even if I don't necessarily like it.
One thing I can already tell is going to be annoying in this game is collecting random loot everywhere because we have to hold the interact button to do so. Obviously everyone wants to pick it all up, they should've just made that an auto-pick up, because it's going to be annoying AF to wander around holding X on every little scrap of loot we see. At least in Ghost of Tshushima it only took a quick tap of a button to pick stuff up, the videos I've seen show them having to hold down the interact button just to pick up some loose components... That is going to get old REAL quick and that is an issue that I would understand turning someone off of buying...
I don’t see why they couldn’t of left all of it in….
Nobody’s animated a NEW skinning animation for several FAR CRY’s now. They could of just left in the old one in. It was fine.
No extra work required at all….
And let’s be real… From what I’ve seen so far FC6 has an awful lot recycled from previous games e.g assets, animations etc.
I absolutely do.Originally Posted by Mozz_Mann11 Go to original post
The irony is — these things, are what seperated FARCRY from the myriad of mindless shooters out there.
RDR2 had all of these immersive features and it was still super popular. I don’t know why it’s believed these features will put off casual gamers….
As far as I can see the problem is how the games design mandate has shifted.
What historically has been great about FAR CRY, certainly part of it, and also a lot of Ubisoft open world games is how dynamic they are. A lot of things happen within the sandbox, between different NPC groups that are not scripted. It’s a lot more immersive than other open worlds, as many other games NPC are tethered to their spawn location, which means that this kind of same ‘interaction’ rarely occurs.
Crucially, these systems were originally part of a whole, and we’re more nuanced.
Unfortunately, these systems and the resulting action have become the focus — it’s all been amped up and it’s been rebranded as the ‘crazy over the top (mindless) mayhem’ of the FAR CRY games. The game has become synonymous with this now.
And this brand has stuck and the game is designed now around this theme of over the top mayhem…. The series has been morphing into this more bombastic, cartoonish game.
And the FAR CRY of the past has kind of been lost somewhat.
It’s sad. FARCRY 5 should of been named Animal Apocalypse! You couldn’t walk 10m without getting mauled by 3 bears, 5 honey badgers — it was ridiculous ….
Beats me, I see no reason they couldn't have left them in if they were just going to be re-used animations. The thing that irks me the most about how they re-use animations from one game to the next is that we're playing as different characters, so they wouldn't perform even the same actions exactly like the previous game's protagonist. I wouldn't have as much issue with it if the games were more of direct sequels where we're playing as the same person, but the fact that Ajay reloaded his AK exactly like Jason Brody did annoyed me more than if we'd been Brody both games...Originally Posted by LaMOi Go to original post
