Question for the old school players!!

Just want to gauge opinions on this idea but

WHAT IF they did a call of duty Style Remaster of the Original Ghost Recon 1 complete with desert Siege, island thunder and Tropical Storm DLCs all rolled in with modern Graphics

And released this at the same time as the new game as part of a belated 20th anniversary celebration

Would people be interested in this??

If there was a third person view in the options, I'd give it a go.

I would want to have new features beyond just a graphics upgrade. If it came as a free addition to the next game, then that would be cool and wouldn't expect much. However, for a paid add-on of any sort it really would need more than a graphics upgrade to make me want to spend money on it, especially after how royally they botched Breakpoint along with the follow up treatment of the fanbase.

the way i envisioned it would be as free content when the game released, with a good graphics update exclusively for the next Gen consoles definitely not as separate paid content

I wouldn't mind an OGR remake, with improved textures and such, along with updated character and weapon models, while keeping the core gameplay mechanics the same. But it's Ubi, and they would probably screw things up. Just look how much trouble they've had remastering Prince of Persia: Sands of time, which is a few years newer than Ghost Recon

Ok, I'll bite but thread careful because I have a feeling you're going into uncharted territory now

If you add a few minutes of man power coding a better teammates and AI, it doesn't have to be 2021 Tech AI, half of that would do, I am even willing to pay full price for them again.

I beg to differ, perhaps you and I played different games?

I can concede that GRAW i & II were linear but OGR and the DLCs were more open world for their time than what we have now but that's for another debate and post.

    Ahhhh OK, then NO

And I say NO because UBI and their GREEDY shareholders will never consider giving you anything for free so why bother even speculating on it.

And besides, graphics only is not the kind of remastering I was hoping for. You would think that even then could not butchered it but then again Megalodon is right and they will find a way to Zombie it and defecate on it even more.

    Agreed.

I'm more about large, open world sandboxes these days which makes these maps from these games seem way more restrictive than they did back in the day. ....even those that offered more choices in the way you would approach objectives than more linear experiences of the time. I don't think I could go back.

Didn't realize it before but I guess I was also playing the original Flashpoint that released around the same time as the original Ghost Recon around 2000?

Well ,since OGR takes place in one region, unlike GRFS, it could be possible to create a medium sized open world map, and placing the locations from the original missions into the open world. Then if you also had similar sized maps for the various expansion campaigns, all bundled together, I think it could be worth 30-40 dollars.

Well, if it were to include something like that along with other modernization, yeah. .....maybe I'd be interested.

I know there are games that I absolutely loved that if I tried again today I would be disappointed. Like Hidden & Dangerous for example. .....but take elements from a game like that and implement them in a more modern version with larger maps, better graphics, sounds, effects, improved mechanics, etc. and that would be something I could really get behind. ....same for the early GRs.
