When the game was first announced, usable weapon were going to be restricted based on class, with only Assault rifles being available for everyone But after all the negative feedback from the communiry, the devs reversed course within weeks of it being made known.Originally Posted by jmagnum50 Go to original post
The classes are poorly done for a military game. The only class that is probably the most realistic, would be sharpshooter minus the intel grenade launcher. Second would be Pathfinder due to calling in air support. The other classes as far as I am concerned are far from being realistic in a milsim scenario. Panther is not bad if you are running a navy seal amphibious setup with slim shadow. The Aqua Net hairspray can idea is just plain silly. Echelon class is a cool idea, and so are the sonar goggles, but it's obviously future Splinter Cell stuff. Assault isn't bad, but you will not get back life just because you shoot someone, Engineer with the advanced ammo (minus the silly drone holding it) is okay, however deploying a defense drone that is actually pretty big in size for how you carry it, is not real either. With that being said, we are on an island full of future technology and would explain some of the futuristic gear we have available. Oh, I forgot about Medic, the first aid kit you throw is not a bad option either. However, it's more of a morphine shot rather than a critical fix. And the drone acts the same way as the engineer class. It's just silly you pull that drone out of your pocket on a whim. It should be launched off a backpack with rails if we are going to keep things a tad believable. Much like how the drone operator in game uses his.
Can't say I was a fan of any of the classes in the game as I feel they were all poorly made and cartoonish. More and more it seems like Ubi is looking towards things like the A team and GI joe for inspirational ideas when coming up with things for Ghost Recon and it is completely out of place. They need to do more research and base their ideas more on what is actually realistic. I'm not saying make a sim, but at least make it believable. Hopefully in future games if classes are something that absolutely must be tacked on for whatever reason it will be more like GRAW2 where they gave you a slight accuracy and reload speed bonus with the matched up weapon. Anything beyond that which includes special abilities or perks, such as more health or damage reduction, due to a title is just sadly misplaced and ridiculous.
No favorite class per day though I love assault rifles.
I run assault class as it just seems more normal to me. I still play stealthy on elite mode and I use some combination of weapons between ARs, DMRs, shotguns, LMGs and SMGs. SMGs have same penalty with suppressor as the rest of the weapons.
I only use the poison gas to rank up to unlock weapons for the class.
Thinking of using no perks at all and I have not selected any skills that increase carrying capacity to ammo and explosives down.
Haven't bought any vehicle. I steal everything.
I do use AI teammates with assault class as you go down so fast if you miss your shot as all the enemy AI just pours in on you.
Assault just seems to fit in with all this.
Interesting POV feedback. And I do think if you choose a Class you are limited to only Weapons Etc, that fit the Class. Basically the Class system is a joke, yes you do get certain special abilities, but some of them are not realistic.
also things like the RPG, is a Skill Item? As I regularly play Stealth and live off the Land, I think you should be able to obtain say an RPG, off an RPG Enemy, same with other bits. I like to use plants etc for Crafting, rather than topping up in shop. If you need Mines you collect old shells, metal parts and saltpeter, same with other items, use weapons you find.
Probably not Way others play, but makes use of stuff most do not bother with.
I like the Pathfinder because it feels the most realistic out of all the classes due to its white hot thermal mode and also the drone strike capability...though if it were up to me i would just limit the drones usefulness to scouting or firing missiles and not flashbangs or distract or whatever the other abilities are.
