Game crashing after starting New Game

    Hello,

I just bought FC5 on a steam sale, but i can't play it. Firstly, i started new game, then after couple of minutes, in prologue, game crash without any error. I restarted my PC (sometimes it just helps), and now it's crashing or freezing on loading screen.

    My PC specs:
    intel core i5-7400
    GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
    16 GB ram
    Windows 10 (64-bit)

I tried everything - doing every step on ubisoft troubleshooting page, verify game files, trying running as administrator, installed latest drivers, changing settings to low etc. Nothing helps. Only when i deleted files in documents (check and gamerprofile) game starts, but again, after couple of minutes in prologue - game crash.

    Plz help.

Hi guys! I'm sorry to hear that you're both experiencing crashing issues when attempting to launch Far Cry 5!

Premislauz, thank you so much for providing those specs, and for letting me know what troubleshooting steps you've already completed in an attempt to resolve this issue! I recommend gathering your MsInfo and DxDiag files, and then submitting a case with us on our support site with those files.

Eisenseite, have you attempted the same troubleshooting as Premislauz? If not, go ahead and run through this guide. If you have already done those steps, then I recommend doing the same as I mentioned above by gather your system files and submitting them via a ticket!

A possible workaround (how I get to play - as I also bought on Steam this weekend):

    - Try to start the game from either the shortcut or Steam. Shows Steam and Ubisoft on taskbar, but it seems to be just a Ubisoft "starter" app that hangs.
    - Close the Ubisoft starter. Start the game again. It will likely crash. Submit the crash report and close the popup.
    - Start yet one more time. Chances are that it will start this time. You might need to try again.

I hope this workaround works for you too.

i have the same problem with the crushing message. Cant play, just bought the game. What is interesting is that the game played well during 6-9 august free period.
Bought the key on Humble bundle, play through Uplay client.

    Solution!

So guys... I contacted with ubisoft support. I send them dxdiag and msinfo. First, they told me, that my CPU is below minimum requirements, so they suggested me to upgrade my CPU and eventually (to see if that solution works) try to install clean drivers of my GPU. That was funny, because my CPU is ABOVE minimum requirements, also i didn't have any problem with running games with much higher requirements (e.g. Cyberpunk 2077, which I completed on my PC and didn't have any crash). So i send them message, that they are obviously wrong - CPU wasn't overheating while running Far Cry 5, it was 70-80% usage in loading screen, also first start of the game, when i changed the settings to ULTRA and turning on HD Textures - game runs very fluent (50-60 FPS) before crash. I told them, that I'm not gonna believe that my CPU is a problem, because i don't have problems with any game, and if they won't suggest mi anything else - I just gonna do steam refund.

So they once again look into my dxdiag.txt file and pointed me, that i have connected second monitor (actually - it's not monitor, it was a TV) and game doesn't support this. So I unplugged TV from my PC, and also in meantime Nvidia realeases new drivers (471.68), so i downloaded them immedietaly.

Then i started the game and finally everything works! Just point that this was first game on my PC, that had problem with second monitor.

So guys, if you have second monitor or TV connected to PC, try to unplug them, also download the latest drivers.

Hope that it works in your case too!

Please forgive me for grammatical mistakes, english is not my native language. Hope that everything is understadable.

Hey there LuL_ZoL! I'm sorry to hear that you've also encountered this issue when attempting to play Far Cry 5! If you've already given these steps a try, as recommended above, go ahead and grab your MsInfo and DxDiag files. Once you have those, go ahead and submit them via a ticket on our Support Site!

I'm glad to hear that the game is working for you now, Premislauz. I also appreciate you sharing the solution that you found while working with our support team! Thank you so much for that.
