But i suck too much.
I took a break from this game and i come back with everyone parrying lights like there's no tomorrow, and meanwhile here i am struggling with BLOCKING, yeah you heard me, BLOCKING.
It's gotten to that point that i have no idea what i'm doing wrong and i can swear i'm moving my analog stick to the right area but i still get hit.. and after i get hit the guard is where i put it at to begin with, i don't know anything anymore. I panic against Beserkers or any character that has multiple attacks from the side of their choosing, i can't parry or block anything anymore and it feels depressing to the point i don't want to pay anymore because i feel no enjoyment. And i know i'm not gonna get any better against these people that still remain in this game and are absolute pros so it demotivates me even further from playing.
I need help.
We actually have a program in place for this! It's called the For Honor Dojo and it's a space for new players, returning ones, and experienced players to come in twice a week, spar with each other, and learn/get better in a collaborative space. We have a few teachers who lead the sessions to really help guide players to get better at the game. No one is going in there getting absolutely smashed, it's purely a learning environment.I'll drop the link for ya!

Dojo sessions are every Thursday's (6pm ET) and Saturday's (4pm ET)
I hope to see ya in there!
I mean you just gotta play until you improve enough my guy. Specifically berserker is kinda hard with the 400ms lights. I personally came back from the game after about 3 years and for about a month I just COULD NOT parry lights period. But I just kept playing and I adjusted enough that I can basically consistently parry them. Keep at it my guy. You'll get there.
For Honor is like another game / sport... It takes practice and more practice.
Play without pressure, and you'll see that soon, things will start to go well. There are parrys that are made by instinct or knowing the opponent's hero's moveset, and not just by reaction. It's practical.
But I'll give you two tips:
1. Choose Jormungandr for Duels.
2. Choose Peacekeeper for Team Fights.
There is no better.

I cannot parry lights sometimes in entire matches when my PC gets slower with my stream, and I´m a veteran.
So if I really need to parry I just stop streaming or reduce my graphic settings a lot , but still you need practice bro, in the training arena and enduring lots of matches until the timing comes naturally.
ohh man so you want him to learn the hardest way lel...Originally Posted by PicoAncus Go to original post

But one thing as a veteran I can say, there are certain characters that when there is a lot of "defence / attack" option the player avoids trying to parry in the best chance.
When I played with Warlord I used a lot of the full block stance, and my son with the prior uses a lot of "ad profundis" with success.
With Kensei, Conqueror or Gryphon it os used a lot of dodge heavy or Superior block.
With stronger characters sometimes there's even no need to try to parry several times.
Once I started playing with Jormungandr, there is no other chance that I really want to do damage. He's weak, bashes just don't work, and even with the "Tireless" feat I end up running out of stamina first, trying to drain the stamina from the opponent.
So there is no other way. And with constant practice and constant parrying tries, i have learned the correct timing.![]()
Obviously that i fail a lot in my readings against good enemys, but thats the risk / reward game. Thats part of the game.
There are plenty of tools in game to help you out such as practice modes and trials/tests. I recommend checking out the Dojo like UbiYubble recommended. Even as an older player myself I learn a thing or two from it. I also recommend playing against bots in 4s. You probably wont get better at duals specifically, but it helps warm you up to a new hero and learn what combos work and what dont.
The biggest advice I can give to you is try not to get yourself down about losses. I have countless hours on this game and still lose often, and when I lose many games in a row, I tend to depress myself without realizing it. I get bored, sad, and often angry which leads to me talking crap in text chat. (I try not to do it but I get frustrated) Try to focus on getting better rather than winning or losing. A lot of these heroes take a few hours of practice to get good with them, so just practice practice practice man.
the more you play this game the better you will get. part of what it means to be good at this game is having an understanding about each characters attack patterns and what they are capable of.
furthermore, check your controller options in the start menu. go to control tuning and lower the dead zone stat. a good number to have your controller dead zone is 5, this helps lessen the delay between your guard switch improving your reaction times in combat. it helped me immensely with blocking. setting the number below 5 will mess with characters with the full guard stance causing them to go into the stance without you meaning to. play with that stat a little and see which number what helps you react to attacks better
