    Warmonger and FA/FDA

Warmonger only SEEMS to have so much frame advantge because her kit doesn't have a "light finisher".

    That's just silly.

If Frame Advantage/Disadvantage is to work properly, it can't only apply to finishers.

A raw light attack followed by nothing should leave you at frame disadvantage. A raw heavy followed by nothing, frame advantage.

Her 2nd light and bash light are single exceptions she has for frame advantage. Heavies are the same as anyone else, opener light is the same.

FA/FD applies to openers and finishers. Warmonger follows the FA/FD settings. Her opener lights are FD her opening heavies are FA. The only place that's "different" with her is the light after bash. The game does not consider that as a finisher and thus it isn't FD. There are plenty of other situations (infact IIRC I made a thread listing them ages ago) where things are different. These are all intended situations by the devs in order to make sure each kit has flavor to them and match up knowledge is still important.

A lot of the heros in the game (I'd say a good majority of them at this point,) have a way to be in near constant FA. Wm isn't the only one capable of this. The thing is both FA and FD are not hard set rules. They impact the choices you can make but they do not define them in a rigid way. As an example I can end with a finisher light from any hero that puts me in FD. And I can still back dash to avoid some responses to the fact that im in FD.

I can't seem to find the official FA/FDA rules anywhere.

I was not aware that the rules applied to openers. It always feels like I can retain FA if I throw an opener light and then wait and throw another opener light.

Where can I find the official notes about it? I tried searching on the official page with no luck.

I don't think there are any official notes about it. It's just mostly what players have gathered from it. Freeze has a video on the subject of frame advantage if you care to watch.

The devs never posted an official guide on FA/FD. The best you'll find is the dev stream where they talked about it in length and maybe the patch notes for when the ccu dropped as I recall they made a post that explained the concept a bit.

But yes regular chain starters and regular chain finishers all have the same recoveries on hit and block. Whiff recoveries were not normalized for anything.

Generally speaking soft feints and special attacks don't conform to these rules and thus you need to figure out through fight the hero.
Also heros with recovery cancels can fudge these a bit as well. Like orochi with his capability to dodge cancel his light finisher recovery means hell interrupt you if you try to light him after he finishes his chain.

    Well that's unfortunate.

Thanks for the info though, guys.

I was under the impression that it only applied to finishers so I will use this knowledge to level up. Hahaha
