What are your opinions about Stun, Ladies and Gentlemen? Is it good for the game or is it bad and why? Please be as detailed as possible.
I thought I ask this question and get a conversation going because what I can see is that the devs really didn't like it and they keep removing it from the game whenever they can (the most recent being Gladiator). Of course, as an LB main this has me a little worried because stun is an integral part of LB's kit and it helps him out a bit when it come to his quite bad chain offense. Plus he is the only character with a working stun mix-up (as far as I know).
So yeah, you can say that I'm a bit biased towards stun, but I'm all ears to your opinions and insight about it.
I would say having stun in the game is a bad idea for the way the devs are taking it. Since it's becoming an unreactable read based game I would say having something that blinds you isn't a great idea.
However, if they had went the other way and kept the game somewhat reactable then I would say having stun would be a necessary mechanic.
That's a reasonable and logical opinion. To be honest I would like stun to stay in the game to some degree, however a part of the reason is that LB's chain pressure is really lacking without it. But maybe when his time comes to be featured in a TG the devs change his attack chains so considerably that he won't need stun anymore. Who knows? But it's important to note that Gladiator didn't lose all his stun-capable moves (as I'm sure you're aware), so they could keep it here and there on LB as well. More precisely on his Heavy finisher and light parry riposte. So, if other top heavies would lost the stun, stamina dmg and stamina pause and the heavy finisher would stun and do a bit (10) stamina dmg but no pause I would be OK with it. That would be a healthy change.I would say having stun in the game is a bad idea for the way the devs are taking it. The general idea was to have stun be a way to "fudge" the effectiveness of regular chain moves and make mix ups better.
But like a lot of the intentions behind design for this game it ultimately falls falt and doesn't manage to work because the games base mechanics (block, parry, and dodge) are so powerful and shallow that there's only so much they can actually do to make something viable but also expressive.
I like stun as a mechanic. But it doesn't work with for honor.
